We had a very nice visit to Lauderdale by the Sea. The location is perfect; steps to the ocean and the Lauderdale by the Sea center. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping and ice cream. Adria was super helpful with recommendations on dinner spots and any incidentals or questions. We immensely enjoyed her beach condo which has lots of windows for lovely beach breezes and sunlight. It's decorated very thoughtfully and has all the conveniences you need when on vacation, especially wifi. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub in the evenings and beach by day. Adria had plenty of chairs, towels and beach toys which was a bonus. Would love to return soon (with out kids).
I didn't have any reviews to read, but decided to take a chance based on pictures. Wow! I was so lucky! This place is great.
The property consists of two art deco homes on a large lot. They are connected by a porch on the second level. The house at the front of the property, a two story, has one two bedroom apartment and one efficiency apartment. The house in the back, the one I am reviewing, also has two bedrooms. It is up on cement stilts, and covers half of the pool. All three units are very nice. Adria, the owner, has done a terrific job decorating in a tropical decor. I wish she could decorate my home. She spared no expense on housewares and home furnishings. Everything is top-of-the-line.
We had our own driveway and parked the car for most of the month there. You can walk everywhere. If you don't want to walk the 9 blocks to either grocery store, a free shuttle is available. The location is perfect. It is right across the street from a beach portal (public access). It is one long block (two average city blocks) from Commercial Ave. and all the best bars and restaurants. One block behind the property is Walgreens, on A1A. You do occasionally hear traffic on A1A.
When we arrived, Adria presented us with a huge arrangement of tropical flowers, a bottle of wine, and a tote bag with gifts and information from various area merchants. Very thoughtful!
To get to our unit, we went through the back gate, passing the washer and dryer, the beautifully landscaped pool, a large, newer Weber grill, a closet filled with beach items (chairs, umbrellas, coolers, mask and fins, boogie boards) and then up a flight of stairs. At the top is a cute, semi-enclosed patio, with a sofa, two chairs, and a coffee table. My husband spent a lot of time out there on his work. We are happy to report that the wi-fi works well. One of Adria's cats would curl up on the ground next to him at times.
The unit has a combination lock, which is convenient. We never had to worry about keys.
The L-shaped living room/dining room combo is spacious, with a large flat screen t.v. with satellite service, and a dining table with 6 chairs. I loved all the windows. Not only was it light and bright, but we got some great cross ventilation. During our month-long stay, we also had to turn on the heat and air-conditioning and both worked well.
While small, the kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. Adria warned me that there was no dishwasher, but it wasn't really an issue for us, even though we cooked most meals there. It was very well-equipped. It had everything but a small sauce pan. I'm sure after Adria reads this, a small sauce pan will appear. It was great to have so many staples, like dish soap, paper towels, wipes, plastic wrap, salt and pepper, spices, garlic cloves, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, coffee, some bottled water, etc.
The master bedroom was beautiful, with a West Indies four-poster king-sized bed. The quilt was stunning. There is another flat-screen t.v. and a large walk-in closet with hangers.
My only complaint was that the mattress was little on the soft side, but I like firm beds. We solved the problem by moving to the second bedroom.
The second bedroom had a firmer mattress. Both bedrooms had palm trees outside the windows which were great to see at night and in the early morning. I loved the fact that both beds had soft rugs on each side. Stepping out of bed in the morning was much easier.
I loved the bathroom. The shower had a window at eye-level, so you could see out while showering and get a nice breeze. The window ledge is a great place for shampoo and body wash (provided). Then there is the fluffiest bathmat there when you get out. A heat lamp was a nice touch. The glass blocks are so much better than a curtain or enclosure. The medicine cabinet was great for holding all our toiletries.
We had the pool area and our porch area to ourselves most of the month. It's great because there is a lot of privacy, yet the location is so close to all the action. There isn't a lot to compare it to in LBTS. It was our first trip here and we loved the area. It's wonderful that city planners had the forethought to prohibit structures taller than 5 stories. I highly recommend the area and any of Adria's three rental units.
Needed a place to stay, last minute booking so I was not expecting much but WOW! I loved this place so much I made an offer to purchase it, but I was politely declined.
My wife, daughter and I were lucky to be able to book it in high season, thanks to a cancellation Bee by the sea had two week period to offer us.
We stayed on the second floor in a two bedroom apartment, our flight arrived late at night but everything was ready for us including a lovely presentation letter and a nice bottle of red wine.
The location is great, a walk away from the beach and distant enough to have peace and quiet from the busy streets of commercial and El-Mar. The living quarters are very nicely decorated and recent there is no signs of wear and tear,
Everything is kept clean and orderly. The kitchen is well equipped with all of the needs for everyday living including some impressive appliances. The dining room has a big table to accommodate a family of four with ample room, but I rather have
My breakfast on the outside terrace and my dinner downstairs by the pool. The bedrooms are very comfortable, well-furnished and the master bedroom is equipped with a good size TV hooked up to “direct TV”
Both beds are very comfortable and large.
Adria the owner was very helpful, kind and eager to please. I loved the Webber BBQ near the pool it even has a rotisserie!
The private parking was a big plus.
I wish I could have stayed for another week but my vacation was ending and I had to come back to the cold Canadian winter…
Thank you Adria for a wonderful stay!
We stayed at Bee by the Sea over the 2015 Christmas holiday with our 3 girls (7, 4 and 1) after searching a long time for an available place with 2 bedrooms. The place was perfectly clean and more spacious than we expected. (The pictures on the web site make the apartment look way smaller). We love that it was directly across from beach, short walk to center of Lauderdale by the Sea and that we had a pretty nice place to eat outside as well as a private patio.
The kitchen is well equipped but if you like to cook a lot, maybe a fee things are missing (we decided not to cook that much and I'm pretty sure if I had asked Adria, anything missing would have been in the next minute !).
There was a problem with the pool and spa heater, everything was fixed in the shortest delays.
We will for sure go back to that place, looking forward to next visit!
