Understanding the basis of what is and isn’t covered in various traveler insurance plans can be both time-consuming and confusing, especially when you'd rather spend your time on finding a vacation rental or creating a trip itinerary. If you use Travelocity to book travel, be prepared for any travel situation that could occur by learning what their travel protection plans cover and what happens if you need to cancel your trip.
What The Travelocity Vacation Waiver Covers
What Is Covered
Travelocity’s Vacation Waiver allows you to cancel or change your trip for any reason. Travelocity does not charge cancellation fees and hotels usually don’t if you cancel three or more days in advanced. You can also cancel your flight for free up to 24 hours after you book. You will not only receive a full refund for any cancellation fees, but you will also receive a credit for the price of your cancelled ticket if you have the Vacation Waiver. On the other hand, if the airline cancelled your flight, Travelocity will work with you to find the next available flight and to find a hotel for you to stay in at a price within your price range.
When You're Covered
Travelocity’s comprehensive Vacation Waiver covers you up until the start of your flight. Prior to the scheduled start time, which is the originally schedule flight departure time or check-in time of your hotel, you can cancel your trip for any reason. Your reimbursement may be given as a credit for traveling in the future. If the airfare is higher when you go to rebook, you would be responsible for that price difference. It’s also important to note that you are only allowed to change or cancel your trip one time before it is scheduled to start. To summarize, if you decide to change your trip before the scheduled start, Travelocity will pay for all package cancellation fees given by the car rental company, hotel, and airline.
When To Purchase
If the flexibility of this plan sounds enticing, consider purchasing the Travelocity Vacation Waiver when planning your next trip. After you purchase it, make sure to print it and keep on the voucher on hand for reference. After your booking is confirmed, you will also be able to see your waiver information on your online account, which eliminates the need for you to manually redeem your voucher. The Vacation Waiver can only be used once and must be redeemed by you or whoever’s name is on it. It does not have cash value. Also if you are intending to purchase the Travelocity Vacation Waiver, make sure that you do so when you are booking, because after you finish booking you will not be able to go back and purchase it at a later time.
In Summary
Travelocity's Vacation Waiver covers the following:
- no fees for cancellation right up to the start of your flight (make sure to cancel your hotels at least three days in advance if you can, to avoid fees there)
- free flight cancellation within 24 hours of booking
- rebooking if the airline cancels your flight
Travelocity's Vacation Waiver does not cover the following:
- any change or cancellation fees that happen after your trip starts (unless an airline cancels your flight)
- multiple changes - you can only change your trip once
- money back for your flight - you will receive a credit
