1. Houston Livestock Show and Radio
If you’re in Houston during the month of March, make sure you have the ultimate Texas experience by checking out the Houston Livestock Show and Radio. The event lasts for 20 days and is the largest livestock show and rodeo in the world. The rodeo starts at 3:45pm on weekends and concerts start at 5:45pm
2. Houston Astros
Catch a baseball game at Minute Maid Park! The park seats over 40,000 fans and even has a fan arcade called the Home Run Alley. Get tickets for one of the Astros’ Suites, where you can watch a game and socialize at the bar and buffet.
3. Space Center Houston
Learn about what life is like inside the International Space Station, have lunch with an astronaut, and see the mission control room used for all of the Apollo missions. Go behind the scenes by taking a tram tour of the Johnson Space Center, where you can see a real Saturn V rocket. The Space Center is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 7pm.
4. Kemah Boardwalk
Spend a day at Kemah Boardwalk, where you can go on rides, eat lunch, and shop. Ride the Ferris wheel or if you’re feeling adventurous try going on the Boardwalk Bullet, which goes 51 miles per hour. The rides on Kemah Boardwalk are open Saturdays 10:30am to 11 pm and Sundays 10:30am to 10pm. The boardwalk also hosts a variety of events, including fireworks and live music.
5. Museum of Fine Arts
The MFAH is a large complex that includes a sculpture garden, house museums, gallery buildings, and more. The Main Campus of the museum is open Saturdays from 10am to 7pm and Sundays from 12:15pm to 7pm.
6. Miller Outdoor Theatre
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs this weekend to the Miller Outdoor Theatre. Watch live musicians, shows, and dances for free while also enjoying the outdoors. Check the Miller Outdoor Theatre’s calendar to see if you’ll be watching Shakespeare, ballet, jazz, or a film this weekend.
7. Houston Zoo
Feed a family of giraffes or go on a behind-the-scenes tour to see what zookeepers do on a daily basis at the Houston Zoo. The Houston Zoo has over 6,000 animals, ranging from Piranhas to African Elephants. The Houston Zoo is open daily from 9am to 7pm.
8. The Galleria
As the largest shopping center in Texas, The Galleria not only includes 400 stores and restaurants, but it also has an ice skating rink and two swimming pools. The mall is open on Saturdays from 10am to 9pm and on Sundays from 11am to 7pm.
9. Houston Museum of Natural Science
Spend your weekend exploring everything that the HMNS has to offer, whether it be seeing a show on the Giant Screen Theatre, visiting the Planetarium, or walking through the Butterfly Center. The HMNS is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
