#TNI: The Morning AfterThis is a guest post from our Travelers' Night In Recapper Lauren, AKA WanderLoz. What's #TNI? It's a gathering of travelers on Twitter- click here to learn more or look below to read our favorite tweets from last night's discussion. -Grahame "Historic Treasures" photo from NewYorkGuest What's travel without historic treasures? Perhaps you're a history/art/culture buff or maybe your ideal trip consists of simply enjoying the food, drinks, and scenery. No matter what kind of traveler you claim to be, I am confident in saying that you all travel to learn in some way or another. If you have traveled, you've appreciated, learned, and lived history.
travelmedia: Fascinating: Watching a demonstration of old printing press Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany. KWanderlust3: The Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Tel Aviv is probably the most powerful and overwhelming one I've ever been to. FrancescaMaz: Most bizarre is Crypt of the Capuchin Monks in Rome. Cool but creepy. On Your Own OverYonderlust: Not really a tour person - walked all over Kyoto, Japan - I consider that quite historical. kellymdurk: I thought Ephesus was pretty darn cool. Here's the Library of Celsus: Janell_IT_Blog: Best historical tour: Wandering along the tunnels of western wall in jerusalem then popping out onto the via dolorosa - intense. allaboutmexico: Rome! Walking around is like walking in a history book. Tips and Tidbits AboutLondon: Callanish Stones on Lewis. Older than Stonehenge, no charge to visit & you can walk around & touch them. TravelDesigned: There is a FAB book by @ParisBuFF Paris Movie Walks I would recommend for anyone planning to visit BudgetTraveller: Edinburgh's New Town was the inspiration for modern town planning and great cities like Chicago. Travaddicts: The Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Make sure you have an Egyptologist tour guide. It will blow your mind:-) The After-Party: Celebrations, Connections, and Cheers! Like all good parties, the doors of #TNI stay open long after the scheduled end time. Some shindigs may leave you with a headache, but the best parties are always worth it. Some tweeps didn't make it until after Q10, but still joined in the fun! Many continued in the history chatter. Trips were planned and reminisced and some of the most unlikely friendships formed. HIstory in the making! santafetraveler: Just read the #TNI Qs for today. Fun! And I have great answers after the fact. PaulOMeara: Now following @melanierenzulli - even though she is partial to the friggin' Yankees. Thanks #TNI. traveldudes: Thanks for a history #TNI tour to you all! It was fun! I hit the Twitter limit! :) _ASA_: #TNI just hurt my brain in the best way possible. Here's to Hosts! If anyone knows the invaluable importance of a good host, it's a Tripper. Like a successful trip, behind any successful event is a fabulous host, or in #TNI's case, fabulous hostesses! This party would not be possible without the ladies from Zip Set Go. Thank you ZipSetRachel, ZipSetAndrea, GoApril, and GoSaraBeth! And cheers to this week's co-hosts: traveldudes, mobilelawyer, Gadling, marylin_res, traveleditor Next Week's #TNI: "Trip Planning" Join us for #TNI on Twitter next week at 3:30 PM EST on Thursday, September 30th.
