The Sharing Economy in San Francisco in the Spotlight
Tripping is a community full of folks who love to share their homes with people all around the world, but did you know that there was a massive moment taking place around the world where people are sharing everything from their homes to their cars to their bikes to their hammers? It's called Collaborative Consumption, and we're excited to see the burgeoning movement being lead by the politicians and companies in our own backyard here in San Francisco.
Last week, our city government hosted a panel discussion along with SPUR, sf.citi ();TechCentralSF, and Shareable, a leading online magazine and community in the space. It was incredibly inspiring to see business, government and the San Francisco community come out to learn more about this massive movement that's an incredibly important and fulfilling part of many people's lives around the world.
As more technologies are created to enable sharing and the ability to consume collaboratively, we'd love to hear more from you about what's going on in your own backyard or your favorite ways to share! A few of our favorite sharing economy examples:
- Roomorama
- Vayable
- Getaround
- TaskRabbit
- ZimRide
- Carpooling.com
