Here are our top four favorite public pools in South Carolina that we recommend visiting this summer.
Go Swimming In These 4 South Carolina Public Pools In Summer
1. W. L. Stephens Aquatic Center
This indoor swimming pool, open all year long, is an excellent destination for members of the community and those visiting Charleston. Specialized courses are offered at low cost, including water fitness classes, an arthritis water fitness course, and one called “SwimCalm” for adults who wish to overcome their fear of swimming. Adults and children can register for a number of swim teams, from recreational to competitive.
2. Westside Aquatic Complex
An array of facilities make the Westside Aquatic Complex a top South Carolina destination. Swim laps in the Olympic-sized, 25-lane lap pool or enjoy a soothing aquatic experience in the therapy pool. Kids will love the “Fun Zone,” complete with slides, catapults, and climbing challenges. Programs for kids, adults, and seniors make this the perfect place for everybody to learn something new while staying healthy and cool.
3. Smith-Hazel Recreation Center
The Smith-Hazel Swimming Pool is part of a 5-acre public space that includes a park, a playground, walking trails, and more. There are two pools to choose from—a “regular” pool and a smaller pool for kids. The facilities are able to be rented, making this an excellent destination for a pool party!
4. Anne Springs Close Greenway Recreation Complex
The aquatic complex, which is part of a scenic public green space, provides the opportunity for a fun and relaxing day. Its 3 pools—a six-lane 25-yard pool, baby pool, and spa whirlpool—are open all year long. Swim lessons are available, and local swim teams practice and compete here. Water aerobics classes are also offered, making the Anne Springs Close aquatic facility perfect for all ages.
