Daegu Bodypainting Festival: A Photo Essay
The following is a guest post from Tom Stockwell, a British blogger and expat-slash-traveller who has been living in South Korea since June 2009.
Come to South Korea and you'll be amazed by the vast array of festivals on offer. They celebrate everything from traditional culture (the Andong Mask Festival), nature (the Hampyeong Butterfly Festival) and the slightly more off-beat. Since 2008, Daegu, South Korea's fourth largest city, has played host to the International Body Painting Festival at the end of every August. Set in the city's gorgeous, grassy Duryu Park, the festival sees artists from around the world transforming the human body into art. Observers can watch the process from start to finish, and then watch the models stomp it out on the catwalk in an attempt to bring their creator glory.
Tom is finally off around the world in 2013, after finishing his contract in Daejeon. Until then, he plans on exploring more of Korea and Asia, eating too much Korean food, and singing away in karaoke rooms. Badly. You can check out the original post about the Daegu Bodypainting Festival and keep up with his adventures over on Tom's blog, Waegook Tom, or via Twitter.
