Christchurch Chinese Lantern Festival - A Photo Essay

The following is a guest post from local Christchurch Tripper and blogger Katherine Kearseley.

The Christchurch Chinese Lantern Festival marks the start of the Chinese new year. This year it was moved from its usual location in Victoria Park to North Hagley Park due to the earthquakes and CBD cordon still in place. However, the festival did not disappoint. This is the year of the dragon, so there were plenty of those to be found as well as a large array of new and colourful lanterns. Evening was definitely the best time to go to see them in their full glory, and although the park was a hive of activity and busy with people, the atmosphere was excellent and it was well worth a look.
