This is an ideal destination for families with school-aged children. Colonial Williamsburg is a charming and interesting place where you can learn a lot about life in the American colonies. Dress up in colonial costume, learn traditional songs, and see what life was like in a colonial home. If you want to have fun the modern way, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is nearby, with waterslides and rides that are perfect on a summer day. Make sure to visit Jamestown settlement and nearby Norfolk, as well as the beautiful York River State Park if you’d like to walk in nature!
If you’re looking for more of a city escape, spend Labor Day weekend in the beautiful and historic Charleston. National, regional, and local acts play on 5th Street and along the boardwalk. When you’re not enjoying the tunes, visit the city’s 14 miles of open, public beaches and the more than 18,000 acres of state parks and national wildlife refuges.
