If you were planning to go to Florida's Gulf Coast, it looks like it might be best for you to cancel or move your trip because of Tropical Storm Hermine. However, we still want you to get the rest and relaxation that you deserve over Labor Day weekend, so we've come up with a few ideas for you.

Don't Let Tropical Storm Hermine Ruin Your Florida Travel Plans With These 4 Ideas!

1. Change your plane tickets because you likely won't get charged

You're not the only one who doesn't want to fly through torrential rain and winds this weekend - neither do the airlines. In fact, many travel providers have started waiving change fees for moving your flights. Call your airline as soon as you can to change your tickets, and be prepared to spend a long time on the phone with them since a lot of other people are probably doing the same thing. The good news: if you were planning to take this three-day weekend to travel with your kids, no one will be more thrilled to miss school for a Florida vacation than they will!

2. Go somewhere else that's relaxing and affordable

The Gulf Coast isn't looking great this weekend, and neither is the weather forecast for the rest of Florida. You might want to skip the Southeastern coast of the United States all together and go somewhere else. If you're canceling your trip, you're probably not happy about the amount of money that you spent (and hopefully you can get most or all of it back.) To give you some ideas about where you should look, check out our most affordable destinations in Virginia and the Carolinas (we're thinking mountains right now!), New England, and California.

3. Plan an epic staycation

Staying at home is definitely not as fun as walking down white sand beaches with warm, clear waves at your toes, but if it's your best option, you can have a lot of fun. There are probably a few places that you've been meaning to go to forever, like these five rooftop bars in New York City, a beautiful lake vacation in Virginia, or one of the twelve best aquariums in the United States. Some added bonuses of staying home: you can sleep in your own bed and treat yourself to a day at the spa and a fancy dinner out with the money that you would have spent on your vacation.

4. Plan an amazing trip for later in the year

Summer is ending, but fall is beautiful! Plan a trip to a destination with beautiful fall leaves or to one of our favorite October destinations. The great news is that Florida is beautiful all year round, and is a great place to spend your Thanksgiving or even Christmas! If you book now for a winter trip, you'll save a lot of money and definitely thank yourself later.
