Welcome to pristine, private Upper Holmes Lake in the center of Iron County. This Lodge was totally updated in 2014 with your Family 'Vacation Satisfaction' as its goal. The front 1/2 of the Lodge is a combination kitchen, dining room and living room with big windows to the lake. The deck is 12' wide across the entire front of the Lodge and includes a picnic table and chairs and a new gas grill. The back half of the Lodge contains a big bathroom, and 2 big bedrooms. One bedroom overlooks the lake, is very private and contains one double bed, a big mirrored dresser and matching sitting bench. The second bedroom contains a set of double bed bunks and a set of single bed bunks. The living room couch also folds out to provide a double bed. The maximum number of guests is limited to six people. The private lake provides swimming, boating and good panfishing with an occasional bass, pike or walleye. This lake is home to beaver, otter, loons, songbirds and nearby nesting bald eagles. Deer, bear and grouse are abundant and a moose occasionally visits the lake. A firepit with adjustable hanging grill is in the yard and firewood is supplied for your hotdogs, s'mores and relaxation. This cabin and its private acreage, on a private lake, allow you to reconnect with nature and enjoy the convenience of a small town only minutes away. We encourage long term stays and will consider reducing the rates for periods over 30 days. The owners private 100 acres is for your recreational use. Private trails and scenic vistas are included on this acreage. From olookout bluff you can see Crystal Falls 5 miles away as you look out over the Paint river valley. Take your lunch and cell phone/computer along. A picnic table is provided and 4G service is almost guaranteed atop the scenic outlook. Also, the Lodge has a full basement with entry door located under the deck. The basement becomes very useful during periods of inclement weather. The electrical power for the lodge is supplied via a new solar system professionally installed summer 2016. After dark guests are encouraged to utilize the propane gas lights in the living area of the Lodge. The ambience provided by these lights reflecting off the natural pine finish of the walls creates a unique experience. Some couples have said it has a romantic effect. If the atmospheric conditions are suitable after dark, outside, you may enjoy viewing the Northern Lights. If you are a railroad train lover--listen for the 'TRAIN WHISTLE' then go to a location where you can see the North end of the Lake. A RR trestle runs across the Lake and trains use this track everyday
