This is a 60 years old bus that transported people from Tangalle to Maligatenna village in the Matara district
Maligatenna is a very remote village 30 kms away from Tangalle. This was the one and only mode of transport for the people who lived in Maligatenna village. All the people living in Maligatenna have their own story about the bus and unforgettable good and bad memories too. By the way, now they have asphalted roads and good service of transport. The bus belonged to the government deport (Sri Lanka Transport Board formally Ceylon Transport Board)
The bus was produced in India. The whole body has been made out of aluminium and steel

Transformation into Vintage Bus Stay:

The present owner KAMAL bought this
Bus in September 2015 from the Tangalle bus depot by a clearance auction for the sum of $1, 300 and converted it into the "Vintage bus stay" with the vision of providing foreigners and local guests with the opportunity for a special and different overnight or holiday experience
The mission of the Vintage Bus Stay concept is to show and educate visitors about the modes of transport in Sri Lanka and its history. Photos inside the bus will be describing the story and staying inside this bus will provide you with the feeling

The Vintage Bus stay is located near the big Mahawewa lake which has a fantastic view
The Vintage Bus stay provides you with very good sleeping facilities as well as dining facilities. Also, there is an open observation hall for the visitors
People who are staying in this bus can fish and go canoeing. On the other side of the lake you can see many peacocks, animals and birds.
