The towns of Les Sables D'Olonnes, La Roche-sur-Yon, Bretignolles, and St. Gilles-Croix-de Vie, all are Market towns/ villages, and are within easy reach and are great for shopping and packed with museums, art galleries and other attractions such as the Flanneries shopping Mall which is an attraction if it is raining / or lunch times when it is open right through. Our swimming pool has a hard cover which means it can be used if it rains and in the evenings - with our outside light, where you can sit on the terrasse on the Wooden Sunbeds / loungers and look over the tranquil countryside, sipping your local Vendeen wine - the vineyards are in Bretignolles and have a motor route through them, and caves that you can buy wine from. Alternatively try sitting on the small wooden benches by the Boules Court in the Sunset quaffing your local beers such as Melusine which you can buy from the 2 local big supermarkets in La Mothe Achard, which also has a Cave for your local wine and a Tourist Office to keep up with events in the area, and a postoffice opposite to post your cards. Les Sables D'Olonnes: Les Sables d’Olonne, the nearby local seaside town, . It has a huge Market hall full of fish and shell food, fruit and veg and meat, even a horse meat stall, upstairs there is cheese and dairy foods and bread for sale, also an area that the local people sell their excess that they have grown in their gardens. It is well-known for it's vast sandy beaches - on the beach are trampolines and entertainment for children, and on the Remblai promenade (all sorts of evening entertainments in the high season - comedians, several live bands and different types of music, skate boarding events, live theatre), and it's working harbour ( boat trips to Île de Ré, and La Rochelle etc. ), overlooked by a street of over 20 restaurants, most of which offer local fish delicacies/ Pizza / Creperies etc. The Harbour can be crossed by an electric boat to La Chaum with Live music in the evenings in the bars.
