Things to Do in Eugene

If you happen to be visiting Eugene between April and November, be sure to stop by the Saturday Markey, which features close to 200 local artisans selling a variety of hoods, along with some live music and an international food court. The market lasts all day long and is located at Park Blocks, across the street from the weekly farmers’ market where you can get fresh produce. Being a university town, Eugene is big on the Oregon Ducks, their local football team. Get into the team spirit by catching one of their games at the Autzen Stadium. Go wine tasting in the Willamette Valley, which is home to around 300 wineries and is known for its sophisticated pinot noirs. During the second weekend of July, visitors and locals alike flock to the Oregon County Fair, a non-profit event that features 18 stages of live music and performances. Stroll through the city’s oldest Park, Hendricks Park, which has 6,000 plant varieties and also serves as the northern trailhead for the Ridgeline Trail. Go for a hike or take your dog for a walk at Mount Pisgah, then take in the exhibits at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art or the Oregon Air and Space Museum.

Day Trips Near Eugene

From Eugene, it is an easy day trip distance to many fun places including the coast, the Cascades, and even Crater Lake. Have lunch at the King Estate Winery in Lorane, which is about 20 miles away from Eugene. Cannon Beach is slightly over three hours away, and Florence is a cute nearby town that is approximately one and a half hours away. The city of Portland is just under two hours north of Oregon, and Salem is along the way at just over an hour in the same direction.

South Eugene has beautiful parks and single family homes, while smaller apartments are located closer to the university campus. The best areas are south of 19th Street, as anything north of 19th Street is more college student-oriented.
