Wells, New York is a tiny little town in Upstate New York situated along Algonquin Lake in the Adirondack Park. Things to do in Wells

Visit Lake Algonquin, a dammed part of the Sacandaga River, is in the center of Wells, and has a few different access points for boats including a free dock and boat launch. Tourists and locals alike can enjoy kayaking or canoeing on the lake, as well as a free sandy beach.

If you enjoy hiking, your trip to Wells will not be complete until you absorb some of the epic scenery while on-foot. Try the Auger Falls Trail and the beauty of this waterfall will reward you in less than an hour’s hike. The trail’s loop is about 1.25 miles and features views of the rushing Sacandaga River. If you prefer more intensive hikes, you can check out the 136-mile Northville-Placid Trail and spend as much time as you want traversing through the heart of the Adirondack Park. Make sure to also visit the Adirondack – Sacandaga River Sculpture Park is an 8-acre park featuring the work of artist John Van Alstine, who typically works with a combination of stone and metal. The park is free to visit by appointment and has a large studio gallery that spills out into the natural open spaces that surround it.
