Louisville, the largest city in Kentucky, and is home to the Kentucky Derby and the Louisville Slugger Museum. For a little history lesson, travel an hour southwest to Bowling Green and visit the National Corvette Museum, or the Historic Railpark and Train Museum. Bowling Green is also a great place to go if you’re in the mood to shop, with the Greenwood Mall being a little over an hour away from the park. Looking to get out on the water? Green River Lake State Park is an hour and a half away, and offers a variety of fun activities on the water ranging from fishing to kayaking.

Since Mammoth Cave is a national park, your best bet would be to drive around. Inside the park, there is ferry service to take you to the Green river if you’re looking to spend some time out on the water.
