Seven Bees- 2 bedrooms, downtown Sandpoint, bikes included!

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms

Welcome to Seven Bees, an urban re-wilding project created by two professional wildlife biologists. Just blocks from downtown Sandpoint, our newly renovated 2 bedroom 2 bath house is nestled amidst an array of local wildflowers carefully selected to attract native bumble bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Enjoy all Sandpoint has to offer from the comforts of a modern home that serves as an urban refuge for wildflowers, pollinators, and weary travelers alike. The house features an open floor plan with two spacious full bathrooms, a farmhouse-style kitchen, a large dining table, two bedrooms, and washer/dryer. Both bedrooms have a comfortable queen bed. In addition, there are two spare twin mattresses available that can be used in the bedrooms or in the living room. With all the appliances you need, the spacious modern kitchen features beautiful walnut countertops and an apron-front farmhouse sink. Wi-Fi is provided and the house has a large smart TV for streaming internet content (cable TV or streaming subscriptions are not provided). Fans are provided, but please note that this house does not have air conditioning. The landscaping offers a summer long parade of colorful blooms and winding gravel paths that you will enjoy while relaxing in the backyard or on one of two porches. Children can explore the creative play area within the safety of a fully fenced yard. Opportunities for photography, relaxation, or self-guided learning about the local ecosystem abound. Enjoy your coffee while soaking up the morning sun on the side deck. The large covered porch is a great place to BBQ and take in cool summer evenings. When you are ready to explore the city, the excitement of downtown Sandpoint is just a few blocks away. The house comes with four older cruiser-style bikes that will get you to downtown in just minutes where you'll have access to restaurants, ice cream shops, bars, City Beach, the Sandpoint Farmer's Market, and major events like the Sandpoint Music Festival and Lost in the 50s. A private off-street parking area with spaces for 2 vehicles is provided behind the house, allowing you to enjoy Sandpoint without the hassles of downtown parking. Habitat restoration is a time intensive process and we spent over a year preparing for our wildflower seed planting, which happened in Fall, 2016! We anticipate providing photographs of the flowers on this website as we progress into our first season of blooms in 2017. As wildlife biologists, we've taken careful consideration of species habitat requirements and specifically designed our landscaping to provide habitat for several at-risk species. Our business is shaped by a strong sustainability ethic and you can look forward to biodegradable toiletries and soaps, and access to a compost bin during your visit. Please note that the landscaping is a work in progress and will take years to achieve fully functional pollinator habitat. As we get the kinks ironed out, the yard may have some weeds or appear messy- certainly not the manicured lawn you might be used to seeing! In the winter months, we make this house home with our new daughter and, during the summer, live in our nearby off-the-grid mountain property. We welcome you to share our home this summer and enjoy all Sandpoint, the surrounding area, and our peaceful space have to offer. With luck, our new bat box may even be occupied this summer! Please note: the City of Sandpoint regulates vacation rental homes. Owners are required to obtain a business license and display their tourist home permit number on all listings. Please consider spending your dollars in support of legal tourism in Sandpoint. Sandpoint Permit No. TH15-17
