As I will be caring for Sandy while having a hip op, my response for a few days will not be till later nighttime
Location - Location - Location
(We are so thankful for all the wonderful reviews we have received from everyone who has been our guests). Note: Discounts available for extended stays
Enjoy the comforts of having your own private cottage home which you will have completely to yourselves (you share no walls, ceilings, or floors with anyone). This bungalow is hidden in historic Federal Hill (West End) being in a neighborhood where neighbors say "Hello" to one another
Recently renovated, both within and out, this home has four rooms, a full cellar, and extra storage area upstairs. The home is kept nice and clean. And while you are our invited guests, treat it as your own home, with everything that's needed in a home available to you (including a complimentary bottle of wine and a booklet describing the ins-and-outs of where things are and how they work - NOTE: Be sure to read the booklet before you drink the wine)
There's a full bed, a futon, stove, microwave oven, toaster, lots-a-pots & pans, mixer, dishes, cups & bowls. There's AC, a dish washer, washing machine, and dryer, and an outdoor grille to name but a few of its amenities. There's three outside steps leading into the home which has 600 sq. Ft. Of living area on 1st floor. Assigned parking for one vehicle is within 20' of the home
Very close by to: The RI Convention Center; Rhode Island, Hasbro, Roger Williams, Woman & Infants, and Miriam Hospitals; RI Convention Center, Dunkin Donuts Center(concerts & sports); RI State House, SUPER-SUPER-SUPER Restaurants; Entertainment (indoors and outdoors); many local and Downtown shops, Providence Place Mall (a large three-story mall with Imax and 3D theaters; several Colleges: (Brown, RISD, Johnson & Wales, Roger Williams, and URI Extenion)
Indeed this is more than a home to rent: It's a location abundant with so great a variety of places to go, do, and see, and so much of it within the walking distance of a few blocks
Providence is the home of the spectacular 'Waterfire Event' (http://waterfire. Org 1. 3 miles from the home) that includes opening entertainment, a River Walk on cobblestone and brick pathways alongside the Waterfire (which offers a small ferry ride all about the waterfire baskets in the River of Providence) right alongside of the three-story 'Providence Place Mall'. And even authentic gondola rides!
There's nightly outdoor entertainment along with outdoor dining and dancing held in season at the 'Federal Hill Plaza' on Atwells Avenue that, as mentioned, is within easy walking distance (1/2mile); and there's more indoor entertainment and pubs of all kinds in just about any direction you may walk or drive
There's quality performing-art theaters, also within walking distance such as the 'Providence Performing Arts Center (1 mi. )' 'Trinity Playhouse' (1/2), 'Pell-Chaffee Theater' (1/2), and the 'Columbus Theater' (but a few blocks, that features independent films and a variety of folk and eclectic performers). And this is to name but a few. Go two miles away, and you can sit on couches as you watch a movie at the famous 'Cable Car Cinema'
There's nightlife of varying kinds; and the 'Twin Rivers Casino' is but several miles drive
Perhaps best of all (in fact no perhaps). Providence has some of the very best restaurants and delicatessens in the country (especially Italian) - I KID YOU NOT! And they're within a few blocks of this home! And just around the corner from your home here is a local morning-cafe favorite where people line up for a great breakfast (go there at 7AM or so, or 11:30AM to beat the long wait)
THE RESTAURANTS!!! Check em out: 'Andino's'. 'Siena's'. 'Cassarino's'. 'Zooma'. 'Old Canteen'. 'The Capitol Grille' (too expensive for us - so we've never been there). 'Camille's'. 'Angelo's' (home cooking and casual - my favorite is their veal and peppers). 'Venda Ravioli' (Restaurant & Deli with imported Italian cold-cuts). So too for 'Roma' and 'Tony's' (all three within a block-and-a-half of each other on Atwells Ave. ). 'Providence Oyster Bar' (they have a daily "Appy Hour" (it is illegal in RI to advertise a "Happy Hour" - go figure) they have oysters for $1, good portions of Sushi or Calamari or lobster bisque for $6 and other similar bargains as you sit at the bar). 'Providence Prime' (very top grade beef). And there's Mexican (Don Jose's is authentic), Chinese, Lebanese, and other restaurants as well all on Atwells Avenue. DELI'S: 'Roma'. 'Tony's'. 'Wise Guys' (for great sandwiches til 4AM - even delivered). All along the side-streets of Atwells Ave. Are many other restaurants; and though not we've not been there (yet), they look scrumptious indeed
'Scialo's Bakery' is truly fantastic with old-time recipes and Italian baking methods; and 'Pistache Bakery' but a few blocks away is very popular with the young
Right around the corner from your home-away is the 'Broadway Bistro' (not been there-yet ourselves, we have heard of its excellent cuisine). Indeed, there are as well so many new places popping up all around, we just can't keep up with them
'Hemenway's Restaurant' downtown (1 mile) has over thirty seafood entrees. And a RI long-longtime favorite: 'Twin Oaks Restaurant' in nearby Cranston (their bake stuffed shrimp is to die for), and after all this is said, I've only made mention of a fraction that are available in the area
Within 5 miles there's historical houses on benefit Street (one is where Edgar Allen Poe lived for a short while - legend has it that he followed a girl around at the library); and there is as well a public Observatory in that east-side area of Providence
The beautiful Roger Williams Park has paddle boats, a truly vintage carousel, a zoo, a Planetarium, and an arboretum. And animals
Go some twenty miles, and you can watch a movie at a twin-drive-in, having the ole time car-window speakers: http://www. Mendondrivein. Com/now-showing/
Ah yes! There are numerous ferry journeys that are available:
'Block Island'. 'Martha's Vineyard'. 'Nantucet Island'. 'Jamestown-Newport'. You can see a listing of them at: http://www. Visitri. Com/state/ferries/
Boy, I who write of this, could just go on, and on, and on, of all that is to be seen, eaten, done, shopped, bought, and enjoyed here (I guess I did, yet I've left out so much). Come. Come and stay at our home. As everyone who has, expect a nice and cozy stay (we'll leave the lights on for yah)!
