Kato Paphos (Old Paphos) is famous for its mediaeval fort, beautiful Roman mosaics, the Tombs of the Kings and many other antiquities. The town of Paphos is teeming with bars, shops, restaurants and clubs and is popular with holiday makers of all ages The golden beach resort of Coral Bay close to Paphos is a great place for a fun filled day with the family, with lots of choices when it comes to eating out. Polis and Latchi, the two towns both less than 1. 5km from the house, are a little more laid back than down town Paphos. The resorts both have plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants and tavernas, both offer water sports facilities including PADI diving courses and Latchi boasts a great childrens play area. The beaches at Polis and Latchi sweep around the coast from one resort to the other, giving miles of beach ensuring plenty of space to unwind and let the kids run wild! The flat walkway between Polis and Latchi is ideal for young and old alike and takes in the beautiful scenery. Other activities available nearby include ten-pin bowling, go-karting, golf, fishing, self-drive boat hire, and cycling. Many of the local bars and restaurants have regular entertainment such as quiz nights and karaoke sessions. Many places offer large screen coverage of all major sports events from the UK. Nearby is the popular tourist spot of Aphrodite’s Baths, well worth a trip but be warned, don’t forget the sunscreen and sunglasses, it can be quite a suntrap! Treat yourself to some fresh fruit from the sellers at the entrance, it is hand-picked that day and quite delicious! A real treat during your stay would be a trip into the Troodos mountain range. There are a number of routes to the mountains and please feel free to use the maps provided for you at the property. Troodos can be slightly cooler than the resorts and offers wonderful opportunities to dine out in sheltered settings. Cycle hire is available for those of you who have some energy left and this is a wonderful way to view the breath-taking scenery. Troodos has craft shops and the lace and linenware is a must for gifts to take home. The monastery at Kykkos is well worth a visit but gentlemen please remember to wear long trousers! For winter sports fans - there is even a ski resort in the Troodos mountains during the winter season! The Akamas peninsula is a protected area of hills, valleys and rocky shores. Ideal for rambling with rich and varied flora and diverse wildlife. Travel Paphos is the nearest airport to Prodromi, with a transfer time of approximately 45 minutes. Larnaca airport is just over 2 hours drive but sometimes can work out cheaper for the flights. Scheduled and Low-Cost airlines operate into Paphos and Larnaca from most UK airports. Cheap flights can easily be found using one of the comparison websites such as Skyscanner or Travel Supermarket. Car hire is easily organised from either airport and details of reputable car hire companies can be provided on request. We are happy to recommend a reasonably priced car hire firm who will meet you at the airport and collect the car from you when you drive back to the airport on your journey home. Please note – comprehensive travel directions will be sent with booking pack. Although the drive to the property is not complicated, we realise that driving abroad may be stressful for some drivers and the instructions we provide are intended to make your experience as stress free as possible right from the airport! Remember - driving in Cyprus is on the left - just like the UK - and all road signs are in English
