Chic Carriage House Steps from Ogunquit Beach and Town Center!
Our beautiful home is located at Dunelawn – a five-acre, historic property wedged between Ogunquit beach/tidal river and the town center where all the action is. There is no better location or property in Ogunquit! Dunelawn consists of an old mansion converted to 9 condos, 16 later-constructed townhouses and 4 two-floor units in the historic carriage house that once served the mansion. The property is beautifully landscaped, gated, very private notwithstanding the central location and known as the most exclusive address in Ogunquit
Our 2, 000 square foot home on two floors is renovated to the highest standards throughout while keeping a beach feel. Both large bedrooms are downstairs (the sound of the ocean relaxes you to sleep) each with a nicely appointed ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. The kitchen has a Bocsh stove, microwave, dishwasher and very large fridge completed with a center-island with seating and built-in wine cooler. Soap stone granite counters and travertine marble floors
The upstairs also features open concept living with vaulted ceilings and “pockets” for cozy quiet reading and group conversations. High speed Internet, cable, 2 Bose music players and Sonus Play 5 wireless speakers too
Outside on the patio, you will experience glowing, orange sunrises in the morning with a mix of sun and shade during the day. Bistro table with ocean views, Adirondack chairs and a Weber grille. Even outside outlets for your laptop!
The house includes 2 professional quality stand up paddleboards and beach chairs. The Ogunquit tidal river borders the property – you can launch a SUP in the river and go left for miles viewing riverside homes and beach dunes or go right for a very short paddle to the ocean. A bridge crosses the tidal river and puts you on Ogunquit Beach – rated one of the best beaches on the East Coast
The other side of the property borders Ogunquit town center. However, woods and two other guesthouses totally shelter the property. When exiting the property from our long private driveway, you spill out from our retreat into the middle of Ogunquit center. The antique movie theater is across the street from our entrance (shows first run movies in Summer). Going down Maine Street, you pass an old-school candy shop, one of the best bakeries around and a great neighborhood market with wine, beer and everything you need if you choose to cook at home. Across the street from the market you find a piano bar that hops when the beach closes and a nightclub for dancing in your shorts and flip-flops. We have restaurants for all tastes from outdoor Key West-like dining to formal sit-down and family-friendly joints
From the beach, you can take the 1. 25-mile cliff-side walk to Perkins Cove. Here you find more restaurants, art and other shops and boats for hire. We love to take a sunset sail (bring your own wine) and then have dinner in the Cove. You can jump on the trolley to get home if you choose
Oh, we are sympathetic to dogs. We will ask for pictures of your dog and your personal promise to take good care of our home. (Plus a dog fee of $250 week. )
Lastly, the association requires a minimum 30-day rental. For folks from Boston or Cambridge, the drive is 1 hour 10 minutes and commutable. The Downeaster Amtrak line also runs for neighboring Wells to Boston North Station. The value is there even if you just come up on weekends too!
We are excited to share our home and Ogunquit with you! You will love it!
