Historically, Casa Carlos was part of an adjacent property owned by Oscar Berninghaus who was one of the 8 original founders of the Taos Art Colony. Oscar lived in the larger home and used the casita as his studio in the 1920's. The studio was much later named Casa Carlos after Oscar's son "Charles". The Harwood Museum (an easy walk) is host to many works of Oscar Berninghaus and of his 7 Taos Art Colony founding buddies. Guests are urged to take the historic walk and ponder the original works of the original owner of this special casita
