Only a short drive away are Alta and Snowbird which have been named the No. 1 ski resorts in the United States by SKIING Magazine for five years in a row. Other great ski resorts in the area are Brighton and Deer Valley. Whether you're hitting black diamonds or sticking to the bunny slope, each of them offer breathtaking views and a full day of family fun. Keep in mind that Deer Valley is a ski only resort, so check out the others if you'd rather carve the mountain on your snowboard. Sandy also boasts 60 miles of hiking and biking trails. After a long day on the mountain, I'm sure you'll want to rest a little. Learn more about the history of Sandy at the Sandy Museum, a historic building with two floors of displays, gift shop, and an exhibition shed outside. It's open Tuesday-Thursday from 1:00pm-5:00pm or by appointment. If the weather is nice outside, visit the Sego Lily Gardens or go shopping at one of Utah's largest shopping complexes, The South Towne Center.
