    Formerly known as “the oil capital of the world” during most of the 20th Century, and because of its success in the energy industry, Tulsa prompted the construction boom of the popular Art Deco style of the time, becoming the mecca of the arts in Oklahoma.     The Financial and Business District houses the majority of the city’s arts, history, architecture, and landmarks. Most of the convention centers are located in this area and visitors can also visit Greenwood Historical District, Tulsa Performing Arts Center, the Blue Dome District, the Brady Arts District, the Oil Capital Historic District, and ONEOK Field (home of the Tulsa Drillers.)

    Midtown houses the city’s more upscale neighborhoods and most of them display art deco architecture and were built at early 20th century. Midtown also hosts the University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University, Philbrook Museum as well as some upscale shopping districts such as Utica Square and Cherry Street, and Woodland Hills Mall, one of the state’s largest shopping malls.


    The beautiful Tulsa Zoo features a zoo train and is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. For great views while hiking and mountain biking, visitors should visit Turkey Mountain. There is a new complex, river walk crossing in Riverside where you can find bars, restaurants, live music and a movie theater, called River Parks.
