About Sonora

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada region, the charming city of Sonora serves as Tuolumne County’s county seat. The city was founded during the California Gold Rush by Mexican miners. Historically, the area’s economy was reliant on mining and timber. Presently, the city’s primary industry is tourism since it is in proximity to Yosemite National Park.
