Description

Charming and elegant, Villa Cima perches above the waters of Lake Como on the grounds of the Villa d’Este, one of Europe’s grandest hotels. This refined four-bedroom vacation rental dates from the 19th century and gives guests the comfort of a private home fit for nobility and the amenities of a luxury resort. Invite friends and family to spend an unforgettable holiday in the estate’s 7, 000 square feet of space, all against the dramatic scenery of the lake and hills
Your stay at Villa Cima includes the use of the amenities at Villa d’Este and its sporting club, from the shared pools, sauna and hammam to the gym, tennis courts and bicycles available to borrow. Enjoy your choice of an in-villa continental breakfast or a buffet at the resort restaurant each morning, and ask the 24-hour concierge if you need help with reservations or excursions. Of course, you can also spend your vacation simply relaxing on the villa’s private lakefront terrace
The villa was originally built in 1814 by Caroline of Brunswick, the then Princess of Wales, to house a count and countess. Though it has since been updated, the refined antique furnishings reflect its royal heritage. Carved trim, leaded windows and vine-covered walls lend a storybook feel to the exteriors, while inside, terrazzo floors and Murano chandeliers are both beautiful and traditional. Several well-appointed sitting rooms boast lake views, and the formal dining area can seat eight. In contrast to the rest of the villa, the fully equipped kitchen is practical and modern
Each of the four bedrooms at Villa Cima features an en-suite bathroom, a private balcony or terrace and views of Lake Como. There are two suites with king beds and two with queen beds, all with stately accents such as floral print bedding, high ceilings and tasseled drapes that speak to the 19th century origins in an understated way
Named one of the best hotels not just in Lombardy or Italy but in the world for its breathtaking location, Renaissance gardens and opulent decor, Villa d’Este is a destination in itself and popular for honeymoons, destination weddings and other special occasions. The surrounding area is equally rich in history and attractions, from the restaurants and shops in Cernobbio, a 5-minute walk from the villa, to the churches and museums of the nearby city of Como. For a memorable day trip, drive to Bellagio and visit its historic villas and revel in its spectacular views
