Description

NOTE: We are temporarily blocking dates after March 1, 2018 while we determine whether we will sell this property. It has been wonderful to have and share it for as long as we have, but we may be approaching the time to let it go. If you would like to be considered for a rental after March 1, please inquire. We can let you know if anything changes. Until then. Welcome to the cottage, where you can kick back, relax, and appreciate down time, Southern style. Whether you're a kayaker interested in exploring Eastern NC waterways, a family visiting a loved one at Camp LeJeune, or a couple wanting a romantic refuge, the cottage at Cedar Point can provide a wonderful base for a few days or more. Your well-behaved dog can join you! Enjoy the rockers on the front porch. Stretch out with a novel (or take a snooze) in the hammock on the screened porch, where you’re looking out on the White Oak River. When feeling more ambitious, you can put in kayaks and paddle toward the marshes of Croatan National Forest, or around the bend and under the Swansboro bridge, across the Intracoastal Waterway, and out toward Bear Island State Park. The cottage is located one (empty) lot from the White Oak River, so you can pull your kayak or canoe to the water from the house. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive to the public beach at Emerald Isle, or to the scenic Tideland Trail of Croatan National Forest. Swansboro is a historic fishing village, a fun place to browse. Go to the Visit Swansboro website to learn more. Inside the cottage (which was completely repainted in fall 2016), WOW! There are vaulted ceilings, gorgeous colors, lots of windows, and heart pine floors in living room and kitchen. Dining room table seats 6. Great collection of puzzles, games, books. Internet access; TV with cable and internal roku. Master bedroom has a comfy firm king-sized bed; master bath has a heart-shaped jacuzzi and walk-in shower with two shower heads. We've recently installed a steam generator for the shower, which is especially nice in cooler weather. Second bedroom has two twin beds; second bath has a combo tub/shower. Both baths have heated tile floors. The house is a no-smoking zone. Ours is a quiet neighborhood, so please, no house parties. The yard is not fenced, but you can walk your dog along the road, which borders the river. We prefer a maximum of 2-4 guests, for at least three nights. For those who want to stay longer, arrival/departure times can be negotiated (as long as there is not a same-day turn-around) and do not need to be on weekends. In fact, during peak season we encourage arrivals to be on days other than Saturdays. Swansboro offers several dining options, but if you’re inclined to cook, you’ll enjoy the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen. And you won’t find seafood fresher than the fish sold at Clyde’s, just over the Swansboro bridge. We believe that "Y'all means ALL, " and are intentionally inclusive in welcoming guests without regard to race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, or political affiliation. If you love the coast and are looking for a quiet place to stay for a few days, we hope you'll inquire about the cottage. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, or to suggest things that could improve your visit
