Description

Walking into Pangot is like stepping into a fairytale village. Tucked away within the Kumaon hills, with magical forests echoing the songs of hundreds of colourful birds and little trails that disappear into sunlit glades, that’s Pangot for you. The Nainital area (1938m) lies in the central Himalayas and is a vantage point to view the great Nanda Devi massif. The Pangot area (1900m) lies 15 kilometers past Nainital and is on the road to Vinayak past Kilbury. A birdwatcher’s paradise, Pangot is 15 kms from Nainital and the drive is through the bird habitats of Cheena Peak range forests via Snow View Point and Kilbury. Numerous bird species have been recorded at Pangot and its surrounding areas. Life in Pangot is so quiet and unhurried that the most exciting activity is a trip to the small, quaint village market
