Casa da Serra is an independent house within a property situated in the highest point in Penedo's village, a typical Portuguese village up on Sintra Mountains. The village is situated in an unexplored area, peaceful and calm. Penedo is located within Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, between Almoçageme and Colares villages. Penedo is the highest village of Sintra Mountains with privileged view over the landscape of the Natural Park. This is an ideal place for travelers who are looking for a place far from hassle, in contact with nature. Its privileged location allows people to reach important touristic points in a short period of time, from the coast (4 km) to the city (35 km) The area surrounded the property is ideal for lovers of nature: you can just walk by forest's paths or, for people with a good level of fitness, ride a bike in the irregular landscape of the mountain (some bike circuits are close). The house has 70 m2 and: 1. A comfortable bedroom with a doubled bed; 2. The living/dining area has an open and spacious kitchen. (The living area has a sofa that can be used as a single or double bed). 3. Bathrooom 4. A full euipped kitchen (coffee machine, juice machine, dish-washer, washing and dry machine, fridge, microwave-machine, etc. ). The house is comfortably/totally equipped for a pleasant stay. The house is located on one of the highest point of the property, with a stunning view over the sea and Sintra's landscape. Each corner of the garden has a unique view over the sea or the hills. Even when you open the front-door or windows of the house, you face the ocean or small villages at the distance. It has a spacious terrace, exclusive for guests, ideal to relax and enjoy the view. The property has two dogs and two cats. The garden is divided in two areas, connected by a gate, both with barbecues. The guests' garden has, about, 1500 m2. It has a barbecue that includes an outdoor fire oven and a table for 8 people; an outdoor toilet and an outdoor Living area. The second garden (1500 m2) is shared with the owners, include a swimming-pool with view over the coast (from Praia das Maças to Ericeira), Sintra Mountains (Palacio da Pena e Castelo dos Mouros) and some typical villages. All water, used at the property (houses, swimming-pool, etc. ), is supplied by an old mineral water spring inside the property. Sintra is also known by its mineral water fountains and springs, where people that live in big urban areas/cities come to supply themselves with fresh mineral water to drink. The pool is cleaned by a system of copper electrodes in order not to alter the properties of the mineral water and avoid skin problems/allergies nowadays more common because of the excessive use of chloride to treat water. The house is ideal for couples or families up to three (2 adults & 1 child). For bigger groups, we recomend to rent the two houses at the guest's garden together (Casa da Serra & Casa do Mar) and/or «Typical village house» (200 meters away from the property) We strongly recommend hiring a car as there are many places to visit within a range of 40km: UNESCO World Heritage center: Cultural landscape of Sintra (include Vila de Sintra, Palacio da Pena, Castelo dos Mouros, Palacio de Setiais, Palacio de Monserrate, Quinta das Regaleiras, Convento dos Capuchos, etc. ) – 8 kms trough Sintra forest's roads. Beautiful beaches: Adraga 4 km; Praia Grande 5, 5 km; Praia das Maças 7 km, Praia da Aguda 12 km, Magoito 14 km; Guincho 14 km, etc. Important points: Cabo da Roca (the westernmost extent of continental Europe) 8 km, Cascais 18 km, Estoril 20 km, Mafra 32 km, Lisbon 35 km, etc. Activities available in the area: Golf, Horse riding, Trekking, Surf, Windsurf, etc. Parking is available inside the property but if you prefer, you can leave the car just outside such as many locals/visitors do. Kindly note that the access to the property is made through an unpaved road with inclination. A normal car passes without difficulties. In Penedo village you just find one grocery for basic shops. For bigger shops, the nearest grocery is in Almoçageme, at about 2 km distance. In the area are local markets with fresh vegetables and fruits, wines and all other supplies. During Summer' nights, kermises are organized in most villages of the area. We are available for anything you need during your stay. He property is not recommended for family with children under 6 years old, because of the configuration of the garden in several levels (stairs, terraces). 2. Children must, always, be in company of an adult for their own safety. 3. Well behaved pets are considered. In this case, before booking, ask if there is, at the moment, another guests' pet at the property. 4. Check-in after 15h (3 p. M. ) and Check-out before 12h (twelve); this rule becomes flexible if there is no other guest arriving or leaving. 5. Smoke is only allowed outside
