Bed & Breakfast - 2 Blks to Subway

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom

Book this charming room and enjoy a pillow-top queen-bed with an en-suite bathroom. In the morning wake to a hot cup of coffee and a breakfast buffet. As a fellow traveler I try to provide my guests with the items I would want. I love NYC and want my guests to love it too! I am happy to give advice on sightseeing, shopping, tickets or restaurants. Want to see NYC like a local? I have a ton of ideas away from the crowds of mid-town. The room is ideal for 1 or 2 guests but I do allow 3 for an extra fee. I know many people are on a budget and prefer to split expenses among three to save money. The extra fee is $30 and a cot is provided for the 3rd guest. I do not recommend 3 adults for a long term stay or if you plan to be in the room most of your visit. This is the East Village where rooms tend to be smaller and the addition of a cot does not help. Breakfast is included in the cost but I am willing to provide additional meals for an extra fee. I enjoy cooking and it is a treat to cook for more than just myself. If interested, let me know. CURRENT AMENITIES: - Breakfast - Queen Pillow-top firm Mattress with 4 pillows (Plus a twin air-mattress if needed) - Clean Sheets, Bedding and Towels - Laptop - for use in apartment if needed - High Speed 5G 100mbps WiFi Internet - Access to my full cable package including HBO, Cinimax, Showtime, Stars, and Epix plus over 2000 movies on demand. - Washer & Dryer - I am happy to provide Wash & Fold service for my guests for a small fee. But since it is a portable unit, guests cannot use the machines themselves. - Hairdryer, Curling Irons and Hair Straightening Iron - Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap - Full Length Mirror - Umbrellas - Iron - Control over the temperature settings for the Heater and Air Conditioner in the room. A/C is available from May to the end of September. FOR THOSE WHO LIKE LOTS OF DETAILS: I live alone and only host one set of "guests" at a time. My apartment is really a one bedroom with the door missing from the bedroom. It was designed that way, so I have hung heavy curtains from the ceiling to the floor for privacy. I sleep in the living room on the sofa when I am hosting, and we share the bathroom. I do not access the bathroom at night and usually wait until guests leave for the day to shower. I do my best not to intrude in my guests privacy, and wear earphones at night plus when guests are home. I think I have been successful based on guest feedback. BREAKFAST: I have always provided breakfast for guests as that is what I prefer when I travel. There is always a selection of fruit, bread with a selection of toppings, hard boiled eggs, a choice of cold and hot cereals, maybe a surprise treat plus coffee, tea or hot chocolate. I set up a little buffet around 8am and let you choose what you want. If you are staying long-term, the choices can be tailored to your preferences. BEDROOM - The bedroom has a very comfortable queen sized pillow-top mattress bed and four pillows, I have a ton of pillows so if you need more just ask. The bed has been raised so I can store items more easily underneath. Since it is a bit higher than normal beds, I have a step stool so shorter guests like myself can get into the bed easily. There is a full length mirror plus a wall heater and an air conditioner so you control the temperature of the room. Half the closet is available for you to hang your clothing and I have an empty dresser for you to use too. In the dresser cabinet space there are extra sheets and blanket, umbrellas, a fan and an iron. On the bed is a complete set of sheets, a comforter and a quilt. If there is a third person staying, I do have a narrow cot. It will fit in the room, but it is a tight fit making movement difficult. It can easily be stored right outside the bedroom during the day. I will of course provide bedding for this mattress too. KITCHEN & LIVING ROOM - You are welcome to use the kitchen for some "light" cooking for dinner. The kitchen is open to the living room and the room gets a ton of natural light during the day. So much light, that I rarely turn the lights on until night. Every morning I set up the light breakfast buffet and my guests eat at the counter bar. I do sleep in the living room on the couch so access is limited after 10PM. I have a working fireplace that I normally keep running from Late September to April, both for the heat and the ambiance. Nothing beats drinking coffee on a lazy Sunday morning with the fireplace going. BATHROOM - The bathroom is clean and bright with a ton of natural light. The shower water is hot and I have a shower stool if needed. I keep a hair dryer, curling irons and hair straightening irons for my guests to use, as well as shampoo, conditioner and soap. I also have a selection of other random hygiene/beauty items for guests just in case. These items can take up a lot of luggage space and flying with checked luggage costs money. As an experienced traveler, I love when I can just pack light. I do not provide any personal hygiene items, like toothbrushes, deodorant or hair brushes. LAUNDRY - I do have a small washer & dryer within my apartment. I offer guests staying 4 nights or more one free load of wash- about 9 lbs - done by myself. I will wash & fold your items, and the clean clothing will be waiting for you when you return from your day. If you need additional loads of laundry or if you are staying for less nights than 4 nights, that is not a problem but I will charge you a small fee of $7 to cover my costs and time. This is cheaper than the local wash&fold service. Unfortunately guests can not use my washer & dryer. The washer needs to be hooked up properly to the water source and must be monitored to make sure it is draining properly or it could flood the apartment below me. The dryer is simpler to use but is located in the living-room where I sleep. Due to any noise both machine may produce, I prefer not to run them in the evening or night out of respect to my guests and neighbors. PAYMENT: I prefer to receive payment via Paypal -50% deposit after booking and the balance when you check-in. This is a queen bedroom with an en-suite bathroom that we share. There is half closet and a dresser for you to store your belongings. I can squeeze in a third guest if necessary
