There are three spacious bedrooms on the first floor of the home, each suitable for two guests. There is also a large, elegant living room with comfortable couches and bookshelves filled with books, mostly in Spanish and English. The living room is a lovely place to relax, have a chat, enjoy a cognac in the evening, or just curl up with a good novel. The first floor retains the original hardwood floors from centuries past, completely refurbished, and covered with attractive Persian carpets. House El Real de Las Palmas is just a minute' walk from the Plaza Santo Domingo, and a five - minute walk from the cathedral in the Plaza Santa Ana, the center of Vegueta, which is filled with tapas bars, gift shops, and excellent restaurants-meat, fresh fish, tapas, even vegetarian-a delightful place for a stroll, day or night, to enjoy the old world architecture and local cuisine. Weekends are always full of life in Vegueta, but don't miss Thursday evenings, when bars and restaurants in the area offer specials on drinks and delicious tapas. Some of the city's most famous museums are within walking distance of Royal family, including the popular museum Canary and the Casa Colón, a strikingly beautiful example of Canarian architecture that houses a fascinating museum dedicated to Christopher Columbus's "discovery" of America, which started out from the Canary Islands. From the cathedral at Plaza Santa Ana it is only another few minutes' walk to Triana, one of the city's main shopping centers, where you can find stores of all kinds as well as all the major banks, and large variety of bars and restaurants, many with open-air terraces for dining or for enjoying a cold beer at midday or in the evening nightcap. Triana is the major shopping street in Las Palmas, and its many side streets are also filled with interesting places to shop or to relax at a cafe and watch the throngs of tourists and shoppers passing by. Strolling from Casa El Real de Las Palmas to the cathedral or only slightly further to Triana, our guests will find bus and taxi stops
