This quaint little bungalow is perfect for a get-away, family vacation, or retreat. Nestled in the town of Black Mountain, called the 'front porch of the Blue Ridge Mountains, ' our Lake Tomahawk Bungalow allows you to experience the loveliness, peace and quiet of a small town. Conveniently located near a treasure load of National Parks, attractions and majestic views including Mount Mitchell, the highest elevation East of the Mississippi River. The Seven Sisters Mountains can be seen from our property in the backdrop of Lake Tomahawk. The bungalow itself is located just one walking block from Lake Tomahawk which features a walking path encircling the lake where you can visit ducks and geese, enjoy the scenic views along the path or bring a blanket and a picnic and sit on the lawn for the Lake Tomahawk summer series Thursday night concerts. If relaxation and rest is your objective, settle into our comfy deck chairs with a good book and a tall glass of ice tea or a cold drink and let the rest of your crew walk across the street and play tennis. You have a great view of the courts from the deck so you can relax and still monitor their play. Downtown Black Mountain offers many quaint shops for purchasing clothing, kitchen nick-knacks, antiques, specialty items, children toys and more. There are many restaurants to choose from including wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta, the unique Blue Ridge Biscuit Company, Thai, sushi, authentic Mexican, German and several local delis, bakeries, ice cream, and a chocolate shop. The surrounding areas provide hiking, walking/running and mountain bike trails. Check out Montreat College's campus for varying degrees of easy to difficult climbs including the Lookout Trail which boasts a 360 degree view of the Swannanoa Valley. The Lake Tomahawk Bungalow is located only 15 minutes from downtown Asheville where you will find all the amenities of a progressive big city including cinemas, several national and local breweries for touring and tasting, numerous music venues of all types, 36 art museums, shopping, dining, and much more. Asheville is home of the Vanderbilt family's historic Biltmore House with thousands of acres of wooded and landscaped grounds, a winery and restaurants, stables where you can rent horses, as well as the tour of the home. You may also want to get a day-spa ticket to the historic Grove Park Inn and Country Club, where many celebrities and dignitaries have stayed when visiting. In short, the Lake Tomahawk Cottage offers a great alternative to hotel rooms, with a full kitchen. The living room is furnished with comfortable leather chairs, a sofa and coffee table to relax and enjoy the high speed wireless spectrum internet and cable. The two bedrooms have queen sized beds. All linens and towels are provided as well as a hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. It has been said that "Black Mountain is like the Town of Mayberry with hippies".
