Gorgeous 1923 Old Seminole Heights Bungalow: Hark Back to a Simpler Time

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms

Description

As you sit on the front porch of the Erehwon Retreat, you’re transported to years gone by, when life was simpler and time moved slower. Close your eyes as you sit on the expansive wrap-around porch with eaves and you can almost hear the whir of the motor of a Model T rambling down the road or the neighbor stopping by for a chat. In the 1920s, the bungalow was in its heyday and our home harkens back to those glory days. From the minute you walk in the front door, you’ll notice each room has been lovingly restored, with touches from the arts and crafts era like arches, columns and original pendant lights. The built-in bookshelves, next to the massive fireplace, contain all the Harvard Classics and the complete works of Shakespeare for your reading pleasure. Even with all nostalgic features, you’ll still get modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi, washer and dryer, dishwasher, off-street parking and light housekeeping every third day. When it comes time to eat, head to the gorgeous and well-stocked kitchen where you’ll always find all the basics for a quick snack or gourmet meal. We stock the pantry and fridge with cereal, pancake mix, real maple syrup, spices, butter, milk, Florida OJ, tea, coffee and more. We are also members of Shipt. Com, so if you need food items beyond what we stock, send us a list. We'll do the shopping and Shipt. Com will deliver same day! The thoughtful touches continue into the bathroom, where you’ll find towel warmers and luxurious custom-made Erewhon Retreat tea olive soap, made right from the plants found around the home. At night, lay your head down on the plush mattresses and fall asleep on luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets. Choose from either of the queen bedrooms, one with ensuite that includes a tub and shower. There is a second, large master bath, also with tub and shower. Even the backyard invokes feelings of another era, when gardens were a sense of pride for homeowners. Meander through the well-kept yard, smelling and enjoying the vibrant colors of the numerous native Florida plants. Grab a book and find a spot of shade under the 90-year-old camphor trees and laurel oaks. In the early evening hours, guests of both the cottage and the bungalow often gather on the deck, swapping stories of the day and enjoying the company of the property cat, Thomas. If you prefer quieter entertainment, curl up in the leather chair with a good book or one of the many American Bungalow magazines found around the cottage. Or truly unwind and soothe any weary muscles with a Swedish massage; we have a massage therapist that makes house calls for our guests.
