Hut House is named for the old Tahoe watering hole, "The Hut" that was a lakeside tavern and lodge in the 1930s. The original sign for the tavern hangs in this classic Old Tahoe cabin. Here's an excerpt about this home's history: "As with many early pioneers, Ben Callender came to Tahoe in 1906, all it took was one summer to hook him on the area. Ben opened Callendar's Camp Franklin in 1917 with a roadside retreat called the Hut, which served the best hamburgers at the lake and was a popular stop for Tahoe City crowds heading to Meeks Bay to dance in the 1930-40's. Now, you too can enjoy a taste of classic Old Tahoe life your grandparents and great grand parents did! This cabin is all original and is not a fancy place but it is full of Old Tahoe charm. There is a large great room a huge stone wood burning fireplace. The great features high ceilings and lots of old Tahoe memorabilia and a big family style table to feed the whole gang. There is a new 42" Smart TV, and internet access. The great room opens onto a big deck with patio furniture and a gas BBQ. This home's lot is 1/2 an acre and goes from street to street, so is very quiet and private. The lower part of the lot has a horse shoe pit and is just a short block to a private beach. Every guest who has stayed in this home, has loved it. Come see why! Also downstairs bedroom with a queen bed and the only bath in the home. The kitchen features a new gas stove and refrigerator and old style wood counters and in the basement there is a washer and dryer for your conveneince. Bring your sense of old time adventure and this home will be a perfect base for your Tahoe family time. Upstairs there is a loft bedroom with a double bed, older twin and a bunk set. The second bedroom is access through the loft and has a queen bed and bunk set. There are all new linens. The family dog is welcome as well for a pet fee of $100 and signed pet agreement. Please note, the owner does reside in the small cabin directly adjacent to this home. This home is only available in the summer, as there is no central heating, but there is the fireplace and portable heaters
