New And Modern Home For The Urban Globetrotter

Dichotomies are typical in Rome; elegant renaissance residences opposite the baroque opulence of grand churches, the meandering historical centre compared to the modern residential area of Prati. However, in some cases these opposites combine to form a whole new category, like here in Monti, where the avant-garde of Rome meets, greets, eats and drinks right in the middle of the most ancient neighbourhood of the city. This apartment is very much a symbiosis of old and new. The building that hosts our home used to be the headquarter of the historic Messagero journal, which, moving to a larger location gave space to a whole new project. The only remains of the former building is the sobre 19th century façade, while the innards are a modern haven of the latest eco-technology and comfort. The apartment has two bedrooms, both with queen size beds and a bathroom each. The master bedroom has an attached bathroom with a walk in shower, while the second bathroom has a lush Jacuzzi bathtub/combined shower. The entire apartment has floor heating and air conditioning, with customizable settings in each room. The living area has a cosy sofa corner with two large sofas, one of which is a convertible queen size bed. The kitchen has everything necessary for the ambitious home-chef, including induction stove and oven, as well as a microwave and a Nespresso machine for sweet awakenings. The Monti neighbourhood is one of the most colourful and coveted in Rome for its vintage shops, artisan studios, custom furniture shops and (first and foremost) its great and growing selection of restaurants and wine bars. The billowing cobble stone streets hide lovely bars like the Libreria with live music and great wine while via dei serpenti leads right up to the arches of the Colosseum, in the heart of the Roman Forum. Walking down the street from the apartmet you will find first Aromaticus, a modern green grocer which sells local biological produce and cooks them for you too. A little further down there is Urbana 47, an all-round restaurant and perfect place for an aperitivo in the relaxing vintage ambience. However, on particular evenings, head all the way down to Piazza della Suburra adn enter the locale of the same name for a stellar drink
