I stayed here for nearly two months while in town for work. Eileen and Mike were great hosts, and the suite was clean and comfortable -- a nice place to come back to after both a day of work and a weekend downtown. Can't complain about the fresh baked goods, either!

Great communication, understanding, and willingness to accommodate our travel arrangements. Even though we arrived late (after 11pm on a Friday night), they still answered the door and personally greet us when we checked in. Great host and would definitely go back when in the DC area!!!

Mike and Eileen: wonderful, generous and helpful hosts who made my friends trip extra special - especially during the tropical storm situation! Breakfasts were delicious and creative, the fresh fruit was much appreciated. My friends enjoyed the warm welcoming atmosphere and the additional assistance. thank you.

Eileen and Mike were great hosts. We enjoyed staying with them very much. They made us feel very welcome and we were able to enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast every morning. They were so helpful at showing us where the best place to park to catch the metro and some of the best places to eat out. We would most definitely stay with them again if we vist DC in the future.

If you don't want to stay in DC with all the hustle and bustle, I would recommend Mike and Eileen's house. It is in a very quiet neighborhood where you almost forget you are in a large city. It is well worth the price. The breakfasts are amazing. Fresh fruit, meat, eggs, pancakes, french toast, and more! Better than any "free" hotel breakfast. If you decide to stay here, there are a few things you should know. First, the Greenacres Suite is in a basement and it feels like so. It is nicely decorated but there are a few bugs, and it feels like a basement. Also, the traffic in DC is terrible. I would suggest taking the metro into the city or else you will be driving 40+ minutes each way. However, the closest metro is a little over 3 miles but it takes 20-25 minutes to get there. Only on the weekend were we able to make it there in less time. The metro ride was another 30 minutes. So we were spending nearly 2 hours a day in a car or metro. All that aside, it is well worth the price and the hosts are very nice. I personally, will next time pay a little more and stay in the city at a Bed and Breakfast. This will save all the driving to and from the metro, and all the cost of the metro. Riding the metro in the city is not that expensive but from Silver Spring will cost $8+ a day per person.

FEEDBACK POSITIVE Our positive interaction with Eileen and Mike started even before we booked when they promptly responded to our inquiry whether there was room for 5 (there was). After booking and prior to arrival there was also good interaction via email, so we came very well prepared, and Eileen and Mike also knew our wants/needs. The suite was very clean and tidy. TV with 100's of channels and a great fireplace. Exercise equipment we were welcome to use. Pleasant wooded surroundings. Safeway close by. The breakfasts were great - varied, healthy, delicious and on time. Eileen and Mike gave us helpful information at the beginning, such as a Safeway discount card, but were otherwise not "in our hair" at all. We were here for 5 nights and it was pleasant the entire time. We would gladly stay here again, and would recommend this both to people who just need a place to crash in the D.C. area as well as to people who have never been to D.C. and would like some local guidance. Yours Truly, Christine Brincker

My first experience with Roomarama coincided with my first visit to Washington, D.C. for the historic 9/12 march on Washington. I needed a place to stay, and I had lost any affection that I have had with ‘traditional’ hotels…so I searched the net for an alternative, and I found Roomarama. It was a fortuitous find. Once I registered at the site, the staff at Roomarama called me personally and appeared to be genuinely interested in helping me find a suitable bed and breakfast to spend my week in D.C. They were very helpful, and the price was right…much less than a traditional hotel. My hosts, Mike and Eileen, were engaging and cordial hosts, and an EXCELLENT breakfast was on the table every morning. They went out of their way to ensure that I was comfortable, and the accommodations were better than first class, they were ‘home’. I found Mike to have a keen, but subtle sense of humor, founded upon a world class education. Eileen was a powerhouse of energy, up early, wide open all day, and not slowing down till the sand man summoned. More than just hosts, I felt that they were friends. All in all, my experience in D.C. was enhanced by using Roomarama, and Mike and Eileen were an important factor in this experience. I look forward to doing business with Roomarama again.

They were welcoming, friendly and helpful, giving us much advice on where to go and how to get there, providing us with maps and addresses which we could just key into our GPS. This is a good location for getting into Washington, we parked at Silver Springs then took the Metro to Union Station. However we also drove into Washinton and and managed to park near Central Station.Eileen welcomed us each morning with a delicious healthy homecooked breakfast. Would definately recommend this venue to others. Thank you, and we did get back to the UK safe and sound, but rather tired! Elaine and Ray. Sept 10, 2009 Scott and I had the most wonderful stay with Mike and Eileen. They are fantastic people with such great willingness to help and make sure we were comfortable and able to get around the city in the most convenient ways. They are also dog lovers which is a huge plus in our book :). With this being our first visit to the DC area, Mike and Eileen were so helpful with sharing their ideas on things to do in and around the city. We were so impressed with their hospitality and wonderful cooking! The room in which we stayed and their home is extremely nice and comfortable. The location is great as it is outside the hustle and bustle of the downtown area and is conveniently located by a bus stop which takes you to the metro station if you do not have a vehicle. If and when we have the opportunity to visit DC again, we would love to have the opportunity to stay with the Beard's again! Thanks so much Mike and Eileen! Sept 13, 2009 Staying with Mike and Eileen was an amazing experience. The room was everything they said it would be, and the hospitality they showed could not have been better. They were very helpful and informative and they made an excellent breakfast every morning. These two are the model for all other BnB hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent in the Country View room at Mike and Eileen's. They are both gracious and helpful hosts, the perfect combination of allowing us privacy and willingness to be at service, and Eileen is a fantastic cook to boot! I would definitely recommend staying with them. We thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent in the Country View room at Mike and Eileen's. Thanks a lot for the fantastic breakfast, for the rides to the metro station every morning, for all the help to make our stay comfortable, for your hospitality. We highly recommend your place to anyone Craig Jul 13, 2009 We had an excellent time staying with the Beards. Everything, was just as advertised, great neighborhood, very nice room and exceptionally quite. Eileen is a superior cook and puts together great breakfasts. Very gracious hosts! Sarah Jul 08, 2009 From the second we arrived we loved Mike and Eileen's place: it was welcoming and they were lovely. The room is very clean, the breakfast is amazing (love that granola and those pancakes- thanks for watching out for my allergies Eileen) and we could get in and out without a hassle. The rides to the station made life easier and all around we are sure we would stay again next time we are in DC. Couldn't fault the stay and it was far better than any hotel for sure! Thanks to both our great hosts, Sarah and Will... Richard Jun 30, 2009 My wife and I had an extended stay in the Country View Rm., while visiting our daughter and son-in-law in DC. The room, home and setting are wonderful. The neighborhood is a beautiful area for walking and relaxing. The breakfasts were excellent, with a creative flair each morning. Our hosts, Michael and Eileen, are wonderful people and the main reason that we extended our stay! Spencer Jun 13, 2009 My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Washington DC a few weeks ago. Mike and Eileen's place was perfect. Just a few minutes from the metro in nice part of Maryland. The breakfast was wonderful, fresh fruit, quiche and hot tea were our favorite. Their hospitality and good communication from the beginning was helpful, especially because my wife was 6 months pregnant. The neighborhood was quiet, safe and beautiful. We strongly recommend Mike & Eileen's to everyone! Spencer & Wendy Jun 06, 2009 World class treatment, it was everything it was supposed to be great home and wonderful people will return Wayne/Ann Gore We stayed in the home of Mike and Eileen during our recent vacation in Washington, D.C. Mike and Eileen are gracious and generous hosts. In their beautiful home, our room was spacious and spotless. We had every amenity we needed. The entrance to our room and the bathroom next door was very private as it is situated at the end of a hallway. That extra bit of privacy made our stay even more relaxing. Eileen's breakfasts were excellent. We had an egg casserole or quiche every morning, plus, fresh bread or muffins and bagels, with all the trimmings. We are fairly sure that this experience with Mike and Eileen will spoil us forever as we will use our stay with them as a yardstick with which to judge all future visits. Thanks very much to them both for making our vacation that much more enjoyable and affordable. Stefan, Eva and Samatha
