This private apartment in The Rockwell is lovely and sunny in winter, yet cool and eternally liveable in the summer. With a Balinese daybed and a coffee table outside, this apartment is all about making the most of Cape Town and the outdoors.
The air-conditioned interior in shades of black, white and green is cool and crisp and beautifully complements the Rockwell’s 1900s New York inspired architecture. The clean design makes full use of the interior space and flows easily on to the balcony area.
There is a full kitchen and a washer and dryer to provide all the conveniences of home. The apartment also has an espresso machine and an iPod/iPhone/iPad/Android phone/tablet dual docking station.
The Rockwell complex was inspired by the early 1900s architecture of Manhattan, and is surrounded by delightful sidewalk restaurants, bars, art galleries and quaint boutique shops. The complex has a stunning seven story interior atrium and luxurious fittings throughout. It also boasts a gym and an indoor, heated pool.
De Waterkant is the trendiest neighbourhood in Cape Town and one of the most exclusive. The apartment enjoys an enviable location in the heart of the city without actually being in the CBD. From the apartment, you can easily walk to most major attractions of Cape Town. The CBD is just a couple of blocks, The V&A; Waterfront (shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and Robben Island) is only minutes away, and there's an excellent supermarket across the road.
The CTICC (Convention Centre) is nearby and there's very easy access to the highway. You can easily walk to the new Cape Town Stadium and Cape Quarter’s lively restaurant and café scene is just one block away.
If you have a car, the apartment has an assigned, underground secure car parking space with lift access into the building. Security is of the highest standard at the Rockwell with 24hr security and a 24hr staffed front desk.
I've bought and registered a Vodacom 3G WiFi modem that will support up to 5 devices. You're welcome to use this during your stay. I've done all the paperwork, so you'd just need to buy additional data (online, or at any Vodacom store, supermarket, petrol station etc).
Additionally, many of the cafes nearby offer free wifi with a purchase, and there are loads of internet cafes in town (yes they still exist here!) that charge R5/hr.
The apartment is privately owned and is managed by a high-end corporate agency who only deal with luxury rentals. They will meet all guests on arrival at The Rockwell and do all possible to ensure your stay in Cape Town is amazing. They also provide a complimentary weekly housekeeping service.

The first thing you notice with this apartment is the View: Table Mountain, Robben Island - all from the sunny balcony. The apartment is one of the only truly beach front complexes in Blouberg. Most other advertised apartments are 300-500 meters back from the beach.
The apartment has been furnished by an interior designer, and has all mod cons one would expect in a luxury building.
15 minutes to Cape Town and the waterfront, and the same distance the other way to numerous wine estates.
The apartment is at the very highest end of the market, furnished to 5 star standards, with secure underground parking.
Blouberg beach is famous for its kite surfing and other watersports. Lessons or equipement are available from a surf shop on the ground floor. There is also an amazing Italian deli and seafood restaurant on the ground floor.
Portico is located on the beachfront of Blouberg, approximately 15 minutes from Cape Town centre, and 25 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. The Durbanville Wine Route starts just fifteen minutes away, and further a field, the Stellenbosch and Paarl Wine Routes can be reached in 40 minutes.
Closer to home, there are cafes and restaurants alongside the apartment, whilst cinemas, a large shopping complex and banks are within 5 minutes by car. The largest and most luxurious shopping mall in Southern Africa can be found 10 minutes away by car at Canal Walk,as can Ratanga Junction, a themed entertainment park. The Grand West Casino is 15 minutes drive away, and if you are feeling active, there are 2 gyms (Virgin Active and Planet Fitness just round the corner).
There are 2 local golf courses within 15 minutes of the apartment (2 of the most scenic in the Cape, 'Atlantic Beach' and 'Milnerton golf course', and the Cape Town Waterfront shopping centre and tourist attraction is an easy 15 minutes drive away.
I can highly recommend the Blue Peter bar and restaurant down the road, where the canny locals go for a 'sundowner' whilst watching the sun disappear over Table Mountain, and there is an Italian deli on the ground floor, that is perfect for breakfast and lunch.
Vacationing in the Western Cape is like having a decades worth of holidays rolled into one. The gorgeous beaches, with their views of the unmistakable Table mountain, the amazing wine routes, the historical significance of Robben Island, amazing botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch, shark diving, whale watching, seal Island, swimming with penguins at Bolders, Two Oceans Acquarium, game reserves and the picturesque Garden route drive.
