Sunsets, Boats and Romance in Paradise!
If you are looking for an easy get-away that will transform you, then our beach house on Vashon Island is for you. This home has two sets of French doors that open up onto an upper and lower deck offering unobstructed westerly water views. Sit on …
The property is on the water and has a nice private beach. It has a great view of the water from the living room. The owners are nice and flexible. The only thing one needs to be careful about is the narrow winding staircase between the floors. If you have small kids or people with disability , it could be a problem. Vashon island is just 20 mins from West Seattle by ferry and easily accessible. We had a great breakfast in The Hardware Store .
My husband and I rented My Sunset Paradise last weekend for three nights for my birthday. The description of the house was accurate and the photos also accurately reflected the rental's appearance. The view of the sunset from the living room and the decks was exceptional. We never missed one sunset. The property was clean and well maintained and the kitchen well appointed and the bed comfortable. We found so many excellent restaurants in Vashon that we didn't cook much however. Our favorites were, May's Kitchen for Thai food. My husband and I agreed it was the best Thai we had ever eaten! Our other favorite dinner spot was Express Cuisine, an unassuming spot with excellent food where many locals go. The chicken piccata and the captain's dinner were fabulous. For breakfast we went to The Snapdragon Bakery and Cafe where you can get a full breakfast or a delectable pastery. We had the great luck of going the weekend of the sheep dog trials so we did that one day. The other days we took hikes, a lovely one to a lighthouse, and perused the shops in town which we both enjoyed. Oh, and don't miss going to Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie. It's quite an experience, great coffee and Kombucha on tap! The other thing I would like to mention is how quiet and peaceful the house is. The only sounds you hear are sea guls and the wind. It's a great place to unwind and relax, very romantic. I highly recommend this property and a visit to Vashon Island.
It begins with the ferry journey, the pace slows down. The island itself is beautiful. The house is in a beautiful setting, sitting on the deck watching the sunset in peace and quiet is so relaxing. The house has all you need including a fantastic spiral staircase, and doesn't have a TV in the main room (it does elsewhere), the view is the entertainment, we stayed 3 days and didn't switch on the TV once and didn't miss it, we sat on the deck each evening. If you're staying on Vashon island you have to eat at the The Hardware Store, the food was delicious, the staff very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere relaxing, the whole island was a relaxing get away that wasn't too far to get to. The booking process was easy, the owners were extremely helpful and contactable, the whole process was a pleasure, the owner even allowed us to use their kayaks which the kids loved. I'd recommed it to anyone, we'll be back.
My group had a great time at this Vashon house, what a property! The rates were extremely reasonable, so I had my doubts. But I couldn't have asked for a better spot. The house is wonderful and accommodated us perfectly, and the location is unbelievable. We had two great evenings out on the deck watching the sunset over the water. And the accessibility to the beach is a huge plus. I would highly recommend this property. I had never been to Vashon before, so I was surprised how easy it is to get to the house. From the West Seattle ferry, it's a 15 minute boat ride, and maybe another 15 minutes to get to the house. So much easier than going up to the San Juans, and just as good! Also, Vicki made the whole process extremely easy, which was greatly appreciated!
Cabin was more than we had hoped for or could have imagined for a couple. It was blissfully quiet and peaceful. Zero traffic noise, no motor boats or jet skis. We watched, enchanted, as the mist and rain crawled across the pass on the Thu evening. On Saturday morning we watched the mist recede up the hillside across the water and by 8am the water sparkled in the sunlight and was smooth as glass.
Cabin itself was clean and welcoming. Bed was comfortable. HD tv, lots of board games. Full kitchen and 1 3/4 bath.
I read some sub-par reviews on this place before we rented, and quite frankly after staying here I do not know what they were talking about at all? This property was clean, well-appointed, it had a stunning view, there was modern amenities, the mattresses were nice, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. I also found the owner to be quick to respond, personable, and easy to work with hands down. I would certainly rent here again, and I would be happy to recommend this rental to a friend! My only recommendation to the owner would be to leave instructions as to where the linens for the downstairs futons are; we borrowed from a friend as we couldn't figure it out when we got there later in the evening. However, overall I rate this place "excellent" and this is somewhere I can see myself and my family coming back to year after year. What a find! Beautiful.
With the view and all of the amenities of your place. We have no comments or "constructive suggestions" of any kind! Keep it just as is.
We are enjoying the first break as family that we've had for a long time, my husband and i are planning walks and poking around town-our teenage girls just plan to "chill".
Thank you for sharing your beautiful place.
You have such a wonderful house, inside and out. The view is to die for! So peaceful. We enjoyed every bit of our stay. Really enjoyed the island. We would love to stay again. Thanks soooo much for letting us stay in your beautiful home.
This is our second stay at your home. This experience is as great as our first one. The view is spectacular! Thanks so much for making this property available for us to enjoy, we'll be back.
The house was a beautiful, peaceful safe haven for a very hectic weekend of my daughter's wedding. thank you so much, we enjoyed it.
We had a very nice stay on the Sunset Paradise rental on Vashon Island. It is a nice quiet secluded location ... great escape from the hustle of the city. The view from the deck is superior ... we even saw sea lions on the neighbhor's floating small dock! The kitchen is very adequate and sleep accomodations were good. The house may have a slight musty smell at first, but just open up the windows for a while and feel the cool breeze. The owner was very gracious and contacted us several times to make sure our needs were met.
Our rental experience with this owner was difficult from the start. She was not prompt in returning phone calls or emails. She always had an excuse about why she wasn't able to respond. She gave confusing information. For example, after paying for my rental in full, she asked for the remainder of payment. When I told her I was paid in full, I had to provide proof rather than her offering to check her records. She later again asked for additional payment. She asked for more than the rental contract or add stated (but did settle for the advertised price.) While the setting was beautiful, the rental itself reeked so badly of mold that the only way to stay was to keep all windows and doors open at all times we were there. We walked into badly stained carpets, dirty used soap in the tub, an old and very filthy kitchen sponge, towels that smelled of cigarette smoke and required washing before we were comfortable using them, pillows that were yellowed with a variety of gross stains and smelled just awful, cobwebs, and the general look of a place that gets a superficial cleaning rather than at least an occasional good, deep cleaning. And the icing on the cake was the written requirement that we provide any additional toilet paper needed than the one roll per bathroom that was provided. I would strongly recommend any place else on the island. We actually were part of a large wedding party and got to see several other very well kept, clean, pleasant rentals in the same price range.
