This was our third trip to Bali and by far the most memorable, thanks to the wonderful team at Villa Dukuh. Tucked away in a village untouched by mass tourism, this is a chance to meet the locals and experience the 'real' Bali of rice paddies and daily life. Villa Dukuh itself is a hidden enclave of luxury and order. All six staff are wonderfully kind and will look after your every need with a charming smile. From the silver pot of coffee on waking, to delicious gourmet breakfasts, lunches and dinners...Nik is a marvel in the kitchen. She even held a cooking lesson to show us how to make satays the traditional Balinese way. Guests only pay for the cost of ingredients, which makes it very good value to eat meals at the Villa. Seminyak is about half an hour away if you feel the need to leave the poolside for some shopping. Gede - the manager - is always happy to drive and act as tour guide for other sights in Bali. A tennis court, pool table, motorbikes and well-stocked DVD library meant the kids and husband were never bored. Choose Villa Dukuh if you are a family - or a group of friends - looking for a truly relaxing way to re-charge your batteries.
Villa Dukuh just completed the dream for us! Every bit the perfect end of the fairy tale holiday. The villa is gorgeous and we will never forget the fun we had there. Thank you so much. The staff were wonderful, well trained and accommodating, the food delicious and the decor sophisticated. May we come back some time? We are already recommending to anyone who will listen! The photos were perfect representations of the villa, so when we walked through those beautiful front doors it was everything we were expecting. Everything about Villa Dukuh is luxurious and designed to give you a relaxing, stress-free stay. The staff were exceptional. From the moment we walked through the doors of Villa Dukuh, tired after a long international flight, we knew we'd made the right decision. Thank you for a fantastic week at Villa Dukuh. We all had an incredible time-the villa itself is beautiful and all the staff are wonderful. We were all very depressed to leave last night--especially after a lovely suckling pig final meal next to the candle-lit pool.

We stayed at Villad Dukuh for 4 nights with a group of 4 adults and 4 kids (aged 12, 10, 6, and 3). Our experience was wonderful. The property is located in a village community with all the frills that one would expect in a luxury accommodation. The villa is well furnished without being packed with furtniture and art - feels like a home not a museum. Obviously the pool and the tennis court were a hit with our group. But we were most delighted with the attentive, courteous, and caring staff. Our kids loved hanging with the staff, wandering into the village for walks and rides on their bikes. Some of us enjoyed thhe pool table while others loved the tv room. Great vacation in spectacular surroundings but the people (staff at villa Dukuh) made this extra special and memorable.

What a wonderful oasis from the maddening crowds in Legian. After having spent a full week shopping and sight seeing in the Legian, Seminyak area it was great to come and relax and unwind at your wonderful villa. The accommodation is 5 star as are the staff. The manager Geday (not sure of spelling) was attentive to our every need. When a few of us asked about Ubud he got on his bike and showed us the way. When one of us wanted to purchase a particular type of teapot he found a ceramics business in a neighbouring village and once again got on his bike and led us there. A few of us wanted to go and see the sunset at Tanah Lot Geday drove us in the villa car, it was a short 15 min trip away. Rika the chef, yum, very friendly, wonderful food, she was happy to show us how to cook the Indonesian dishes and also happy to listen and take on any of our requests. The trip to market with Rika was great. The rest of the staff, Nik, Nopa & Edi were very attentive and always with a smile on there faces, nothing was ever any trouble. Thankyou for a wonderful stay to end our time in Bali, we would definitely recommend your villa to our family and friends and can't wait to come back again Denise, Sydney, Australia

Our family has been travelling to Bali on and off over the last twenty years (and a number of other countries). This is by far the standout of all the places we have stayed if you want to get away from it all.

Walks through the village gave me a rich experience of how life really works in the villages - including many locals who were prepared to stop and talk to me.

Access to local beaches were only a 10-15 minute ride/drive.

The in-house cooking was fantastic and to be able to go with the staff to purchase the food where the locals shop was great experience which I am looking forward to doing again. Yes we are back there this July.

Our last holiday greatly enriched our lives and we have fallen in love with the village and its people. We still stay down in Legian or Seminyak for few days for the hustle and bustle and to catch up with friends - then we retreat to the village for absolute relaxation.

We now sponsor a family there and encourage everyone who stays to bring some educational supplies to donate to the local school.

My stay at Villa Dukuh was a fantastic experience! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pool and views were gorgeous. I felt very comfortable and relaxed in my room and the main house. The amenities were far beyond my expectations. It was a great get-away from my busy life and a very relaxing trip. Bali is a place that you have to visit at one point in your life and this is a great place to stay during your visit. I have recommended and will recommend Villa Dukuh to my friends and family.

      Villa Kakatua
Kakatua means cockatoo – a colourful, exotic bird, and a fitting description for this charming villa. Set close to the beach among the rice fields of sleepy Canggu with only its sister, Villa Kedidi, and the stunning Hotel Tugu for company, Kakatua is a colourful, exotic and very traditional Balinese villa where alang-alang thatched roofs soar above open-sided living areas adorned with antique Indonesian furniture, spilling out onto a colourful, garden and free-form pool.
Kakatua is perfectly equipped for families. One of its four bedrooms has a huge bed encased in a beautiful antique Javanese frame, big enough for four small kids (or indeed three wives). Either way if they are not all getting on you can banish them to their rooms to watch DVDs whilst you enjoy the sport on the satellite channels in the living room. With the spacious garden and a good selection of pool toys to keep the children happy (even a safety fence for the pool), parents can relax.
The charming mix of indoor/outdoor living space allows freedom to chose where to spend your day: chatting over a meal in the thatched dining balé (gazebo), dozing on a daybed at the poolside, playing water polo with the kids or having a quiet read in the airy living room while listening to your iPod (docking station supplied). When you feel the desire to stretch your legs, a visit next door to the fascinating ‘museum’ Hotel Tugu is a must, and Canggu beach is virtually on your doorstep too. A stroll along the sand at sunset, topped off with a refreshing beer at one of the many cafes at Echo Beach might just be the way to finish a perfect day.
There’s really no reason to venture much further than this as a professional team of friendly staff are on hand look after your every need, preparing delicious meals from a suggestion menu (provisions on guest account). However, should you wish to spread your wings a little wider, the bright lights of Seminyak or the cultural delights of Ubud are very accessible thanks to the provision of a car and driver.
