The cabin was cozy and the view magnificent. The gardens were lush and green and we felt as though we were the only ones around. We lacked for nothing and our hosts went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. When we come back, we know exactly where we are staying!
My husband and I recently visited Seattle for the first time, and we're so glad we chose this charming cabin in West Seattle for our home base. We wanted someplace quiet and relaxing that we could enjoy in between sightseeing trips, and that's exactly what we got.
During our stay we enjoyed many walks to Alki Beach and the surrounding area. We drove into downtown Seattle twice (an easy 15-20 minutes depending on traffic), and we even took the water taxi (ferry) once, which gave us a great view of the city and also Mt. Rainier.
The cabin itself is cozy, nicely decorated and clean. The couch and main bed are very comfy, and the retro look in the bathroom is fun! It's perfect for a couple or a family with one child (although the stairs leading up to the cabin are a bit steep, so supervision outside would be needed if the child is young).
Speaking of the stairs, they gave us a great workout! However, John, the owner, makes sure that guests don't have to haul luggage up or down the stairs. He provides shuttle service nearly to the door and even helps with the luggage (now that's service!).
John and his wife Gloria are extremely gracious and clearly care that their guests have everything they need, even offering vegetables and fruit from the garden John tends so carefully. Gloria does a wonderful job with the flowers on the deck, which has a stunning view of Puget Sound and the islands across the way. We spent many hours gazing at that view, which was especially enjoyable during July when we visited.
As for nearby restaurants, we enjoyed Duke's Chowder House (great view of Alki Beach). We tried Alki Cafe a couple of times for breakfast, with mixed results (but it's the only breakfast place we could find within walking distance). We also had an amazing dinner at La Rustica, which is very close to the cabin and worth a visit.
We would definitely stay again at the cabin, and we have already recommended it to family. Thanks, John and Gloria, for helping us make our Seattle trip so memorable!
This cabin was the ideal vacation spot for me and my boyfriend while visiting family in West Seattle. Beautiful sunsets...The cabin sits above the Puget Sound with a beautiful view of the Olympic mountains and the water, in an unbelievably quiet and private setting. The deck is surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens; the stones steps leading up to the cabin give you the feeling that you are walking up to a very secluded spot (which you are!). The stone steps are partially moss covered and the foliage on either side is mature, beautiful, and very well maintained. The cabin has A/C and a wonderful gas fireplace, so if you stay there in the summer or winter you will be comfortable. The kitchen is perfect for cooking meals and the grill on the deck is ideal for the summer. The beds are very comfortable, the shower/tub/bathroom is great, and the washer/dryer are also great. I could not ask for a better place to stay. The decor is knotty pine style on the inside, which is very charming. Everything is very well maintained. The owners were kind and helpful, and had wonderful snacks for us when we arrived (e.g. fruit, nuts, muffins, water, coffee, organic creamer, beer, champagne)! Alki beach is easy to walk to. Other nice things to do in the area, Schmitz Preserve (wonderful rainforest like walk/hike very nearby), Lincoln Park, Vashon Ferry, Kayak on Union Lake and see the wonderful house-boats...great food in the West Seattle Junction. I recommend Firefly, http://shooflypiecompany.com, http://chacocanyoncafe.com, Mashiko (amazing Japanese restaurant, best sushi I ever had)...so much more to do, so little time. Hopefully next time. I would return to this rental in a heartbeat!
We really enjoyed this beautiful house in Seattle during a conference in June 2013! The house is nearly perfectly equipped. In the kitchen you will find everything you need for cooking/breakfast. Additionally, a gas grill is available on the beautiful terrace. The house has a fast wireless internet connection and multiple TVs including a DVD player. Furthermore the house is equipped with washing machine and a dryer. The beds are very comfortable and due to the location of the house it is very quiet. The house was perfectly clean and all facilities worked perfect.
The house is located in a nice neighborhood on a small hill. The terrace offers an amazing view on the sea and parts of the beach. The sunsets are awesome! The house is surrounded by a beautiful, well-tended garden. If you are lucky you can see a hummingbird in the morning.
Shops and restaurants are nearby and the sand beach can be reached by a 10 walk. The city center is about 10 minutes, the international airport is approximately 30 minutes by car. The landlords of the house are very friendly people who did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
We definitely can recommend this house!!
5 **** awesome!
