This urban Tree House is private and secluded, yet only 10 miles from downtown Seattle and minutes away from Lake Washington. Custom-designed to take advantage of its unique environment, the house sits in a ravine slightly below road level, surrou …
Due to a medical emergency ending in shoulder surgery, I was unable to stay in the Urban Tree House and had to vacate before my reservation ended. I notified the owner a week and a half before my surgery to let him know that I would have to leave. I asked him if he could work with me by letting me out of the agreement early knowing that I had already stayed the number of days; minus one day, I had already paid for with the first half of the total due. The owner did drop the half I still owed in half again, which was something. But I wasn't happy paying for days I didn't stay. Maybe this was the first time the owner was faced with a guest needing to vacate due to medical problems and will think about changing his policy's in the future. My wife and I are also VRBO owners and have worked in the past with our guest's in this exact situation and was happy to let them off the hook knowing that they already had more then enough on their plate to deal with.
As far as the tree house experience goes, it is not a tree house, it has trees surrounding it, with the bedroom downstairs on the ground and the kitchen and small living room upstairs. It was clean, but needs a bar-bar-q for the guests to grill outside. The toilet ran all the time and the bed wasn't very comfortable.
This place is great, the photos and video online do not do it justice, we have stayed at a lot of VRBO locations in the past, this has been the best so far. The place was like new, the location was perfect, the bed was comfortable. This by far beat any hotel in the area. The great thing is we are going home with clean clothes thanks to the washer dryer.
I stayed at the tree house for a week while I was having some renovation done on my home and this place was perfect. It has everything one would need. All you need to do is buy some groceries and your set! The tree house was a nice, clean, quiet place to stay and a welcome respite from the construction chaos I had been living through. It was also in a price range that the insurance company was able to cover, so it really worked out perfectly. I would definitely recommend this place to people visiting Seattle from out of town if you aren't keen on staying downtown (and want a nice place to stay at a very reasonable price).
Reviews are spot on. With this little gem a few miles north of Seattle, I can't believe anyone would want to stay downtown! Couldn't be better. Book now!
Kirk has done a great job with this rental, such attention to detail, he has worked hard to make this a rental with all the facilities you might need. The mattress might be due for replacing, was too soft and we rolled into the middle and there wasn't anywhere to hang up our wet towels, but other than that, this was a cute place and peaceful at night. Location worked well for us, shops close by, the Sand Point Grill and Mama Melina's were really great places to eat.
Great location, central to everything 10-15minutes to Lynnwood and same time to Downtown. The rental was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need.
What a perfect location. I planned a special weekend getaway for me and my 13yr old daughter for her birthday. We checked in, drove 2 minutes to a great Thai food restaurant and then came back to enjoy the hot tub before bed. Close to shopping and Starbucks. Amazing place. Incredible design and great location! Owner was quick to respond to all my inquiries. I would highly recommend and hope to stay here again. Thanks Kirk!
... the treehouse was an awesome experience, hidden and secluded between the trees, it was the perfect setting for our romantic getaway. the building standard is fantastic, and it really gives you all you need for a few days away from home. upstairs you´ll find a complete kitchen, a nice little lounge area and a great terrace where you can enjoy your meal in the fresh air : )
downstairs you´ll find the bedroom, in a cozy orange color theme, with a nice bathroom, and not to forget the most important thing, the jacuzzi, nothing beats the feeling of sitting there in the dark with your loved one, and just enjoying the moment and quietness.
we loved the place, and have already booked our return :-) ...
If you're tired of hotels and want something unique this is the place for you! Privacy abounds with all the amenities including hot tub! Stay at home and enjoy the tree house or get out and explore. Downtown Seattle a short drive away as well as local trails, parks and the Cascade mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return if we find ourselves in Seattle again. Thanks to the gracious owner, Kirk, job well done designing and building this little gem in this quiet Seattle neighborhood, Bravo!
The Urban Tree House was the perfect home base for our week in Seattle. It is quiet, private, and clean. The decor is fun and stylish, with bright colors and thoughtful touches. It really does feel like a tree house. The high-end appliances are new. The kitchen has everything needed to cook a gourmet meal with the fresh seasonal ingredients available at the local farmer's market. There is a hot tub outside, which was a real treat. We recommend this property and plan to return next time we are in beautiful Seattle.
Me and my girlfriend came up to Seattle from Northern California and stayed at the Urban Tree House for my birthday weekend. We had many activities planned in and around the city and the location was conveniently located within 20-30 min of just about everything. It was wonderful to come back to and relax after a busy day. The cozy atmosphere and amenities of the Tree House made us feel very much at home and the Hot Tub set a perfect mood to start and end the day. We will absolutely try and book this again next time we come up to Seattle. Thanks for the excellent stay!
My man and I stayed at Kirk's place for EIGHT NIGHTS! It was incredible--to say the least! I could go on for days about how amazing the trip was but here are the highlights for the treehouse as a vacation rental...
Owner: Kirk was prompt, professional, and friendly. He knows everything about the area and had great reccommendations for us. The payment and contract process was simple and fair.
Amenities: This place is perfect and is set up beautifully for a couple. The linens and towels are fresh and new. The hot tub is the perfect place to relax after dinner but we even jumped in before breakfast one day! The living area and kitchen work together perfectly to create a space where cooking, relaxing, and dancing to the music you have on over the speaker system all work together wonderfully. Within the treehouse, everything is NEW, everything WORKS, & everything is CLEAN. It feels very private, the views are serene, and overall this place is spectacular.
Transportation: We rode bikes and walked everywhere. We looked up the bus schedule and took a bus downtown twice, to Fremont once, and to Ballard once. The bus stops are walking distance from the treehouse and the ride was cheap ($2.50 per person, 20 minutes to downtown). However, I encourage you to do what we did: don't waste much time going everywhere else. Sit and enjoy this beautiful property, fall more in love with one another, and cook good food together as much as you can.
Food: We bought most of our food at Fred Meyer and cooked in. We also ate in Lake City a few times. We visited the brewery, the mexican restaurant, and ordered in both pizza and chinese. The BEST hidden gem in the world may just be The Beer Authority right off of Lake City Way. It is a neat little craft beer bar with wonderful service and friendly local customers that will give you ALL of the information you need to experience Seattle. We walked to this bar 5 of the 8 nights while we were there! There is also a great coffee shop in Lake City that makes fresh bread daily. We enjoyed cappuccinos and good conversation at a table outside for a couple of hours one morning. It was lovely.
The pictures of the treehouse and the description were very accurate. We have nothing bad to say! Thanks, Kirk, we will be returning one day!
This has to be one of the loveliest places to stay anywhere! Beautifully decorated and incredibly well equipped with everything anyone could need to be comfortable, the urban tree house is a masterpiece of design and planning. The organization of the two floors of space is ingenious, creating a feeling of space and airiness; the decor is richly coloured and warm; the furniture is attractive and comfortable. Lovely little touches--coloured glass, indirect lighting, really functional space heaters, a windowed backsplash, old-style classroom roller map made into a window blind--make the space absolutely delightful. The self-contained building is built to merge with the rise of land (the property dips below street level): steps curve up to the breezeway that leads to the upper level door. Windows on the upper level look out on the trees and lush growth outside. Outside the ground floor door is a hot tub in a private patio with a table and chairs. The tree house is in a quiet part of the city, in a nice neighbourhood, on a street with very little traffic. It's easy to reach from anywhere by car. We were going back and forth to the University of Washington and it was around ten minutes of pretty neighbourhoods to get there (and even less on the I5). There are some good places to eat nearby--but it's worth pointing out that the tree house kitchen is extremely well equipped: big fridge, stove, dishwasher; gorgeous new granite counter; all the pots and utensils you need (and all beautifully new!). (Washer and dryer--also fabulous--are on the ground floor, tucked away near the good-sized closet.) We ended up getting fresh and local foods from the many farmers' markets set up throughout the city on different days and making great use of the kitchen. TVs on both floors; great little CD player in the kitchen; really nice shower; soft pillows; pretty and comfortable bedding; parking right outside the gate of the private patio. This place is as close to being perfect as any place we've ever stayed. We loved it so much we hated to leave. And we secretly didn't want to tell anyone about it, so we wouldn't have to compete to book it again--as we intend to do every time we're in Seattle!
What a fantastic find, an unexpected surprise! Gorgeous warm colours, unique and many lovely interesting details! The pictures do not lie on this one! The feeling one gets here is a retreat in the forest with plenty of privacy. The hot tub outside the bedroom was spectacular! This place has everything you need for your special holiday! For a romantic getaway, no car needed, you will not want to leave! For tourists with a car, Matthews Beach is about 5 minutes away and the very funky University District is just 10 minutes away.
The host, Kirk, was very approachable but also allowed for maximum privacy!
As a side note, after our stay, we continued on to Newport Oregon where I was running in my first Marathon. We arrived in Portland and that's when I discovered that my running shoes were missing. I had left them in Seattle and Kirk called me to tell me but I had my phone off! So devastating! A few days later when we arrived at our hotel in Newport, there was a package waiting for me at the front desk. It was from Kirk and it was my shoes!!!!!!!!!! He sent them to me no charge! Talk about above and beyond! Thank you so much Kirk!
We will definitely be back!
