Cute Efficiency Studio 2 Miles to Downtown Seattle
This studio apartment is in a Victorian cottage built in 1900. Although the apartment is in the basement, it gets lots of light through it's many (9) windows. It's 440 square foot footprint is comfortable for 1 or 2 people. The kitchen is outfitte …
The price of this rental property can not be beat! Even the cheapest hotel in Seattle was hundreds of dollars more than this. We did not spend a lot of time here, only to sleep, get ready, and eat a few bowls of cereal in the morning. This is the lower level of a house, so there are people upstairs. They were a bit loud with kids running around, but it was tolerable. The shower is not made for tall people. My boyfriend is 6' 4" and had to bend down to wash his hair, but I fit just fine. It was clean and had everything we needed for our week-long stay. Cindy and Jose were so helpful and flexible. All of our questions were answered promptly. My only complaint would be the construction that is going on behind the house. It starts early in the morning, so if you like to sleep it that could be an issue. We were up relatively early most days so it wasn't a huge issue. Plus, that will only be temporary. We would stay here again! Great central location, clean, comfortable, and affordable. What more can you ask for?
My fiance and I stayed here for 6 nights while we visited Seattle and it was a great little spot. Bus access is very convenient, grocery stores close by. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. My fiance is 6'3 so he had a little trouble with the low ceilings haha. Other than that it was perfect, would definitely recommend to friends and family!
When we visit Seattle we try to stay in different neighborhoods to experience all that the city has to offer. This was our first time in the Central District and it was a very positive experience. The accomodations were perfect for us. The studio is small but it had all we needed. It has a well equipped kitchen, was clean, bright and quiet. The ceilings are low and my husband is 6', but he was able to manage. We used public transportation rather than rent a car and there was a choice of bus lines at either end of the street depending on where we were heading. Cindy and Jose were extremely prompt with any correspondence and were even able to let us get in a bit early which we truly appreciated. Our checks were processed quickly and our deposit almost beat us home. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then this is the place.
My husband and I were in Seattle celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and we chose to stay in this little studio basement to get a better feel for what life is like in Seattle. We were both so very glad we did!
The owners have honestly thought of everything (at least everything I could want!) for the kitchen and the space is well laid-out and furnished.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and although there were two different groups staying in the house above us during our stay, there was no more noise than you would expect from basement-dwelling (i.e. we could hear them walking to the bathroom in the night).
We used public transit for most of our stay (had a rental car the first night and it was very easy to find parking on-street) and the bus stop was extremely accessible.
I can't think of a thing that was unsatisfactory about any aspect of our stay here. It was simply a charming little space that we were pleased to occupy for a few days.
Are you looking for a sweet spot to call home as you explore Seattle? You just found it! It's old world charm combined with unique modern touches & back yard complete with BBQ & 2 separate seating areas! I stayed for a few months & it was my very own oasis in the heart of the city. The whole property is quiet & peaceful given its close proximity to very hip bustling Seattle! This is what surprised me the most (& several local Seattle friends' remarked as well)- as I would walk home in/around Seattle city area I could feel see & hear all the city noises & all that great energy & yet as I walked closer & into my own little centrally located studio...Ahhh..you are on a quiet, safe, tree-lined street in a low key friendly neighborhood. I had no problems falling asleep at night! As a single woman, I felt very safe. My local friends said I lucked out with this gem!
The studio is clean, well designed, beautifully lit and efficient. I was able to come & go at my leisure with a private separate entrance that works well in that you feel like you have the whole property to yourself. It was well furnished with everything to meet my needs, complete with laundry down your little hallway thru a door, conveniant, & layout of studio making any noises from that area on low volume. The property is set back from the street within a nice front yard area that you walk upstairs/or slope & you are greeted with a smogasbord of flowers smiling at you. They have weekly upkeep of the lawn etc and it shows beautifully.
There is off-street parking & a few bus stops 1-2 blocks away that takes you to all the great spots downtown-so easy! Also lines to Capitol Hill, University District, Madrona, Madison Park, etc. Are you a walker? 10 minutes will put you in Pike/Pine corrider & along into the center of Capitol Hill with countless bars, restaurants & shops. It's a short step to Virginia Mason, Swedish & Harborview Medical Centers & Seattle University. There's a fabulous coffeeshop/deli on our block if you want a quick bite prior to your day. A small convenience store/deli is 4-5 blocks away, & a post office a hop further! Go another direction about .4 mile gets you to a huge grocery store/pharmacy (Safeway) & Trader Joe's even closer (shortcut up the stairs a block over!) This place is everything they advertise it to be & actually they forgot to mention one thing--how accomodating, friendly and prompt they (Cindy & Jose!) are! Thanks for making my stay warm & peaceful!
As this was our first stay at a VRBO, wasn't sure what to expect. We were very satisifed with the amazing unit, well furnised with everything you may need - even with reusable shopping bags as Seattle charges you for paper bags when buying groceries. Unit is very comfortable. Felt safe as we walked each morning around the streets. We did have a rental car but the bus stop is a very short walk away. Location provides great access to the various areas of the city. Owners have an abundance of maps and information for guest. Outstanding communications with the owners prior to our visit. Highly recommend for 1 or 2 travelers looking for an alternative to hotels when visiting Seattle.
Enjoyed our stay!!! It is centrally located to downtown..walk, bus etc. We brought our motorcycles and parked them for the duration. The area is quiet and safe to walk at night. We did not get to meet our hosts Cindy and Jose but the administration of setting it up was fine. There is a suite upstairs and during our stay there were little ones running about...wasn't that bad though. The bed is comfortable and suite is clean, kitchen is fully stocked. You will not be disappointed if you rent this suite. Thanks Cindy and Jose. Next time hopefully the Jays will win!!
Cindy and Jose's studio apartment was perfect for us during our 8-day stay in Seattle. The place is cozy, but very well-equipped. We used the full-service kitchen many times, for breakfast and an occasional supper...there was nothing missing. From the iron and ironing board, to the small but powerful hair dryer, the large closet, the laundry facilities right outside our apartment door...it was all so convenient. We had no trouble walking to the close bus stops and finding our way all around Seattle without a car. There were many brochures, bus schedules, maps, and other information to help us find out where we were going. The owners were wonderful about the communication prior to our visit, so we arrived with confidence, even though our plane got in late. I would recommend this studio to anyone (1 or 2 people only) who want a safe comfortable and charming place to stay.
The apartment was as described; very clean, quiet, well equipped & public transport is on the corner. The heart of Capital Hill can be reached by bus in a few minutes or walked in 10-15 min & the downtown transportation hub is just a few minutes more.
There are several newer restaurants within walking distance (on Union/14 Ave) in addition to the Taco Truck parked at Union/21st. The exceptional Cafe Presse on 12th Ave is open late. The table & chairs outside the apartment were nice for relaxing/dining. The area is quite safe to walk at night. Overall, a great location from which to access & get a feel for the city without staying in the heavy touristic areas downtown.
The hosts were friendly, responsive, honest & quickly accommodated our last minute extension. We would definitely stay again.
We stayed here during what turned out to be one of the hottest weeks in Seattle, and the apartment stayed fairly nice and cool. The kitchen was great - we made breakfast here everyday during our stay and found everything we needed. The little treat basket with snacks and coffee was wonderful! The owners were also kind enough to set up a pack 'n play for our baby - since we had both our toddler and baby with us - and it worked out perfectly. We had brought DVDs with us for the kids but it turned out there was only a VHS player. And it would've been nice to have a few more blankets for the evening. Other than that, our stay here was wonderful. The apartment is exactly as advertised, and we would definitely recommend this place to others.
