Angela-I would like to take a minute before we leave to thank you for letting us share this wonderful place. It's everything we expected......and much more!! Our son has been in Seattle for 5 years but is leaving in December. I'm just sad we didn't know about your place before. But if we ever come back to Seattle (and I sure hope so), we'll be sure to contact you again. Thank you so much. You have a wonderful place in a beautiful city!
This place was the perfect place to stay. I was in Seattle to visit with a friend and we ended up hanging out in the apartment a lot enjoying the views. Lots of extras in the kitchen pantry were nice. Lots of candles and a burn log for the fire place made it very homey. Angela was wonderful and very open and communicative. If I come back to Seattle, I will surely stay hear again.
Angela was absolutely wonderful to us. She went above and beyond what we expected as she picked us up from the airport when she learned that we wouldn't have a vehicle until the next day. She offered to take us to the car rental the next day and picked up some groceries for us the night we arrived. Angela is very friendly, knowledgeable of the Seattle and surrounding area sites, and willing to help in any way she can. The property is clean, very well maintained and is ideally located. The view is breathtaking especially at night. The bus stop is just a few blocks away and is easy to get to. I'd recommend this property to anyone wanting a fun getaway to Seattle.
This is a great property. If you are looking for a beautiful view and comfortable residence, this is for you. Great price for an excellent stay. The property is VERY clean and well maintained. Angela is on site if you need anything - very responsive. Great bed! beautiful artwork everywhere, just a wonderful place to stay. Fully equipped kitchen, lovely garden and patio, lots of room...and the view! It is more beautiful than the pictures can even display. gorgeous sunsets over the water, sit and watch the sea planes land and take off. Even though I-5 is right there, I never noticed freeway noise. It is exceptionally quiet, the building very solid! I wanted a quiet relaxing getaway and I got it and more. you'll love working with Angela, she is wonderful as a person and owner. I'll be back!
I stayed at this property instead of in a hotel downtown for the week. It was way better than a hotel any day - with great views all around, a quiet and peaceful retreat at the end of a long day. Once I figured out my bearings (which was a challenge for me since I usually depend on my husband's sense of direction), I was good to go. Figured out how to get downtown without getting on the highway and back lickety split. It took a bit to get used to the narrow streets in the area and parking - but it all worked out fine. Never had an issue with getting a space near the front entrance. Inside, everything was attended to. Appreciated having all of the amenities of home, including paper products (toilet paper and paper towels), soap, etc. Noise was not an issue for me. Even though I come from the country, the highway noise was minimal and much better than being downtown where you hear sirens and other stuff throughout the day and night. Fun city - I hope to stay here again soon when my husband can join me.
Angela is awesome! She offered to pick me up from the airport and then took us into town and dropped us off at the happening spot on a Saturday night in Capitol Hill so sweet and thoughtful to have done that for us!!!! The condo was perfect for us! I was worried at first with it being so close to the highway but once you're inside you can't hear anything you only see the beautiful views of downtown. It's super close to a bus stop that we used everyday using the 49 to get downtown. Angela was so helpful when asked about restaurants espcially vegan friendly ones. Plum bistro was absolutley to die for I would go back to Seattle just for that and Chihuly Garden and Glass (a must see exhibit). Overall loved it! Kitchen fully equipped, lovely patio, nice pressure in the shower and water got hot easily, coffee maker worked and there was even coffee there, wonderful art on the walls, and comfy bed and pillows! Perfect romantic getaway wished we could have stayed longer!
The hostess is awesome, the unit is very homy, fully equipped for cooking, excellent internet connection and cable tv services. You also have access to washer/dryer if needed. The apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. The views - specially at night are just gorgeous! It is real close to I-5 but we found that the noise from the highway couldn't really be heard from the bedroom so it didn't bother us at all.
One thing we did not notice from the listing (and it's not advertised as included) is that it has no air conditioner, only heating. We were a bit stressed by this at first because when we checked in at around 5-6pm the place was very hot (because of the huge glass windows in the front of the apartment and it was a very warm and sunny day). We vented the house a little bit every night when we returned from playing downtown by opening our window and the kitchen door. There is a fan that blows nicely you can use. Once the night came and the temperature dropped, however, we found it was not a big deal and slept comfortably with just the fan.
The apartment was close to a couple of bus stops ($2.25- $2.50/ per person each way)
so transportation to downtown is not a big issue if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks sometimes up or down steep hills (all of downtown Seattle is full of steep hills) to the bus stops. If you do mind walking, a cab fare will range from $6-$15 depending where you want go downtown.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay, a great value compared to hotels downtown - and hope to be back again soon! :)
We had a great time and totally enjoyed our stay. The owner provides a thoroughly furnished kitchen. If you don't want to cook, there are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby. The view of lake union is even better than the picture. When on the deck, the noise from the freeway is significant during the morning and evening rush, but quiets down quite a bit at other times. I would definitely recommend this rental to my friends.
This place has a great view, and is conveniently located. Awesome view of lake union and the downtown. Great kitchen and dinning space. Great office space to work. Very clean. Side patio with Grill. There were, however, a couple things that could have made the stay better. No AC :( a little muggy for the summer (had to sleep with open windows and fans). The decor was not really my wife and I's style, could use an update, not the most inviting. The apartment is the bottom level of a duplex with a Sauna in the rear, so we would hear the occasional foot steps and music playing upstairs. The place didn't feel as private as we were hoping for. The stay was nice on the whole, but some things can be done to make it more comfortable. I'd still recommend the space in certain circumstances.
We initially made a reservation at a nearby hotel, after some research, we found our get away. We thought the pictures were too good to be true, instead, I must say that they didn't do it justice. It was clean, comfy, homey and central to everything we wanted to do. We truly found a home away from home. Angela couldn't have been nicer. She even checked on us to make sure we were okay when the Rt. 5 bridge collapsed! If you have a chance to travel to Seattle, go. If you go, stay at this get away that's in the middle of everything.
Angela is excellent to work with. She is quick to respond to emails and questions and is available 24/7 if any issues arise. The rental is located in the exclusive part of capital hill and within a short drive to center city and surrounding areas. Parking is at a premium in Seattle but not a problem at this rental. Street and/or garage parking were always available and free. The apartment is roomy, clean and well equiped. The view alone is worth it. Beautiful sunsets, sailboats and the lights on the hill at night are spectacular from the "wall of windows," The landscaping around the the three apartment building is lovely and well maintained. The only drawback is that you can hear the tenants overhead if they do not remove their shoes or if they play loud music. We had only one night out of 14 when this occurred so it was a non issue for us but in fairness I included it in the review. Angela does her best to prevent this by providing explicit instructions to all tenants on removing shoes etc. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would rent this apartment again when we return to Seattle.
This is a bit late but wanted to share how wonderful this home is. It is in a perfect location in Capital Hill, easy access to restaurants, downtown and Pikes Market, with a wonderful view of the water. The living room is bigger than it appears in the photos, the kitchen has everything you could need and more. The bed is comfortable. Angela is a perfect host with recommendations for restaurants and even a dentist when I broke a tooth. The view from the living room and side porch is spectacular, we watched the sun set most every night. I plan to stay here again when I return. Although we drove a car the bus stop is just up the street. The gardens are also lovely.
This is truly a remarkable property. The views are exquisite. I loved the the wrap around front windows and the decor throughout. I actually found myself wanting to go back so i could enjoy the apartment and take a nap. It was inviting and peaceful. The location is great if you're driving as it's close to the highways and the hip venues on Broadway. Parking might be a bit challenging but we lucked out for most of our stay. If you're on foot it might take you a bit to get downtown but it's doable. Management was thorough, helpful and professional. I highly recommens.
Angela was available and above & beyond helpful from the moment we booked in February until the end of our stay which was in April. Check in was seamless as Angela had opened the unit for us and the following evening Angela was again immediately available to assist after we had managed to lose the key. The unit was perfect and just as expected from the VRBO photos. The freeway does run below and was a concern upon arrival but once inside and settled was not a noticeable distraction. We did not opt to rent a car and found the bus system convenient and easily accessible within a short walk. The apartment is perfectly situated as we spent daytimes exploring all the other Seattle districts and could end the day with a bite to eat and cocktails close to home in the local Capitol Hill area. Not having to deal with driving, traffic and parking was a big plus for us! Another “good to know” is that there is a ZoomCare nearby for any urgent care needs that may arise. The views of the lake and space needle are amazing especially on a clear night!! We enjoyed watching the rowers and seaplanes while having morning coffee. Checkout was just as easy as check in and we had the benefit of storing our luggage while we explored Seattle one last day prior to an evening flight. We were able to chat with Angela a little more prior to leaving and must say if there is a regret it would be that our schedule did not allow for more time at “home” and the opportunity to perhaps visit with Angela a bit more. To finish the experience the deposit refund basically made it home the day after we did!! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone travelling to Seattle.
What a beautiful apartment! It takes up the entire floor of the three-story building and it's gorgeously decorated. It has a great view of the water and it's near everything. It felt like an exclusive private home with wonderful artwork. Everything was very comfortable, especially the bed, and I felt very safe.
Some things to know:
* The parking is in an open garage and is generally available after 6 p.m. until 9:00 a.m. It worked well for me as a business traveler, and there was also on-street parking. It's over a one-person beauty salon, but I only heard one patron in three days.
* It's okay to arrive late at night. There's a code box with a key in it. Put the flashlight app on your smart phone or bring a pen light: it's hard to see. It was also hard to close: the owner might want to change it.
* The only other thing I would change is to label the shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower; otherwise, I thought the place was tremendous.
The remote controls are for the fans: the temperature control is in the dining room.
* It's a quiet street and it feels safe. There are steps to the apartment: to stay here you need to be able to walk up a flight of steps. There are also stairs inside from the entry way to the living space.
* The wi-fi went out but was fixed within a few hours. The owner knew before I did and was responsive about it.
* My refund for the security deposit processed in 12 days.
* The kitchen is fully furnished and the dining room has a large table.
I would love to come back and stay here again. I would be proud to invite friends over to meet me here. I would definitely stay here instead of a luxury hotel as it offers so much more. The listing is accurate and the pictures barely do justice to the view and the furnishings.
We were so happy to return to this beautiful property after our visit two years ago. We found the property just as delightful this time, meeting our needs perfectly again. The panoramic view of Seattle drew us home each evening to see the sun set as we enjoyed a glass of wine. The amenities that Angela offers were all we needed to make our stay perfect. It was clean and well-maintained plus well appointed. We love all the art pieces scattered throughout the condo. Angela has prepared an informative sheet which answers questions we encountered during our stay. The location is central to everything in Seattle. We hope to return again and would definitely recommend to friends.
Alas, I am belatedly submitting my review as I was unaware of the importance of the review process since I had found Angela’s retreat through craigslist. I suspect neither of us had anticipated that my 2 month stay would eventually turn into 2 years! As we approached the summer months she assured me that I would be able to continue my stay even though she could have garnered much higher rents. It was a transitional time in my life and for me the comfort, security and peace of mind of staying there provided me with such a feeling of stability that it enabled me to deal with everything else at hand. The views......are astounding! I sat mesmerized each night peacefully answering emails, cooking meals, watching the traffic....who knew traffic could be so entertaining? On the rare occasion I needed something, Angela quickly responded. Incredibly we only saw each other a dozen times but I felt a kindred spirit between us. To some it might seem odd for someone to describe living on the freeway as “peaceful”, but if you’ve ever stayed at a Riverside or Oceanside resort, you know it is all “white noise”. Please take her up on her restaurant recommendations!
This is the second time I stay at this property, but the first one I write a review for it. I do this because I think its worth keeping this place as is, selfishly hoping to come back whenever I need to. In my opinion, it is an unbeatable deal. The connectivity is just the tip of the iceberg. Connections to 520 and I5 could not be better. For a contract employee working downtown, or at Microsoft, Boeing, or Amazon, this is the place to be, centrally located but above it all; the real Seattle experience, but with the comforts of a home away from home. Also, the views are just unreal.
I come from a city with a constant city rumble, so I find the slight freeway hum the equivalent of an urban river. It you are all about bucolic landscapes this might not the place for you. But if you are an urbanite who wants to have your cake and eat it, it may just be the right choice. And if you seek the real Seattle experience seek no more.
One of the unique aspects of this place is that Angela -the owner- lives in one of the units of the multifamily. Having her greet you upon arrival, offer her recommendations and insider tips of the area, and respond to any issues that may arise -anywhere I have been they always arise- is just priceless.
She is also eloquent and very well educated so talking to her was a charm.
On the practical side of things, the building is very well maintained as is the landscaping. The one bedroom unit - which is the one I enjoy- doesn't boast the latest finishes, but I am more about substance and I seek a good layout, light, views, and overall feeling. I have stayed in other properties in the area but this one is my favorite by far. Keep it up!
I don't think you can beat this home for a great location and amazing views of Seattle. The house is very comfortable and well appointed with everything you need to feel right at home. The grill on the deck is a great addition. It has a very comfortable bed and furniture. Angela is a wonderful host and made sure we had anything we needed. She also gave us some great restaurant tips and info on the area, so be sure to take her up on that! We had a wonderful time and plan on returning next year!
