This was a great getaway for a couple of days! The owner was very communicative which made the whole process seamless. When I first saw the house online, the pictures made me a little worried, but after I got there, I shouldn't have worried one bit. The house was amazing. Also, if you are looking to stay in San Rafael, the location is perfect for walking to the market, restaurants or parks. The only thing that was a little tough is the quiet hours for the front end of the house were from 11PM-9AM due to the neighbors that live below. When you have 2 littles that wake up at 5:30, it kept us quarantined to the back of the house. This wasn't that big of a deal since the house is big enough to accommodate their activity. From now on, for business or pleasure, I will look to this house first for availability. Thanks!
Things we loved- interesting and lovely side tables and lamps, beautiful pictures, lots of bed linens and finely equipped kitchen with crystal glassware and a multitude of spices and kitchen tools. Great gas stove and microwave. Things that we didn't- master bed is so hard I had unbelievable back pain until I figured it out and padded mattress with quilt. Shower in master too low but still good hot water. Laundry access is like a scary movie, but washer and dryer excellent. Usability index is very low- dish tv is a nightmare, only room with reception was second bedroom with 2 old recliner chairs. Main Living room is a beautiful setting but all of furniture is very old, losing stuffing, at most seating 5 uncomfortably. I feel sad about this property review but with a few simple upgrades it would be a 5 star property. New furniture, new TV with cable in living room not bedroom, new softer good mattress, and more dinner plates and repaired dishwasher so it doesn't fall open. Refrigerator needs leveling so it closes. I would love to return when these upgrades are Done. Oh, and then here is the noise problem. There is no sound insulation between the upstairs rental and the full time tenants below. This means sound passes between floors word for word. This is disconcerting at best and embarrassing at worst. Essentially you are in a bedroom watching tv that is directly over the bedrooms of downstairs tenants who hear every sound. NOT a good situation. Hope this review is taken in the spirit in which it is offered.
Hi Fred! Just a short note to thank you for providing us with shelter the last few days. We loved the neighborhood and found the home quite suitable for our needs. I would like to let you know that the water tap in the master BR dribbles constantly and should be attended to. Other than that, we found everything in good shape and the kitchen very nice, even tho we never did use the kitchen for cooking. We would gladly recommend your rental to anyone. Best regards, Fred & Kitty Meyer
Hi Fred. Back home now I want to thank you For our Stay in your lovely place, I feel lucky To have found you and your house on the Internet Hopefully in the future we will be able to stay there Again. Jen was a fantastic neighbor. Warm regards Enviado desde mi iPhone
Just saying thanks for the nice stay. We loved your place.
First I want to note- people live downstairs. I didn't know this in advance and thought I was accidentally at the wrong house. Thank god they were home. Fred did not leave the key for us as was the plan. The downstairs neighbors are super nice and helped us in. We had a 2 year old ready for bed so I was a little angry at the start of our stay considering we were basically locked out without the neighbors to help. So on to the house. It's very spacious. We were 3 adults and a baby and it was perfect. We could walk to everything. Safeway was like 3 blocks away. Muffin mania around the corner. Beautiful park a few blocks away. The house has a lot of neat antiquish furniture. The front sitting room was very cozy. The kitchen was very nice but the fridge had some issues no big deal though. The bathrooms were nothing special but functional. And having 2was great. We used the master to bathe and the main bathroom for everything else. Parking spot was handy too. It's a killer deal given the area. We definitely felt at home there and had lots of visitors that made themselves comfortable stopping by, as we were in town 4 days for a wedding and had lots of friends around staying at the panama hotel down the street. I would definitely stay here again but just be absolutely sure of where Fred put the key. Or make sure the neighbors are there to help out!! Super friendly neighborhood in general I just loved it there.
My family (wife 2 kids and dog) were relocated to the Bay Area on no notice (medical situation), and needed temporary housing ASAP. Fred was easy to work with, flexible on end dates (we needed a few more days on the back end), and made it work. The place had a nice kitchen, good space, and old charm. Neighborhood was awesome - walking to plenty of convenient places, but tree-lined, safe, friendly. Perfect fit!
I stayed here with my husband, aunt, and child as we visited a sick relative at a local rehab hospital in Ross, CA. I am so thankful the owner allowed us to stay with our toddler. We really needed a fridge to keep all the special foods etc... This lovely house is close to the freeway and shopping and parks. This is a very large, nicely decorated clean home. Very comfortable for all of us. The owner is very nice and accommodated us on very short notice. We stayed an entire week. It has 2 full bathrooms, a fully equipped eat in kitchen (minus coffee maker but I think the owner is adding one) with gorgeous formal dining room option as well. We did all of cooking and eating in the kitchen. We weren't expecting it but there was a computer that had internet capabilities as well. I used it for driving directions. My son loved looking out the large front windows and sit on the front porch as the neighbors would pass with their dogs. We walked to the park so my son could play. We highly recommend these accommodations and hope to some day return to enjoy more of our friends and family in the area. Very close to site seeing in San Francisco and Sausalito etc... We think it was worth every penny. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
We really enjoyed our stay. The flat is quintessential "bay area" style...super high ceilings and wood floors, a basement, and other fun architectural details. The amenities are nice, all stainless appliances, a wonderful kitchen (where we spent all of our time). Perfect for us, we had an employee stay with us and she felt she was very private and secluded in her area of the house...so did we! The neighbors were pleasant and friendly. Being an antiques aficionado, I was super impressed with the paintings, drawings, rugs, and other accoutrements in the home. Loved it! Hope Fred will have us back again next year!
