Noe Nook: 1 or 2 Bedroom Flats or Whole House: PARKING in Heart of Noe Valley
A rare chance to stay in Noe Valley! Noe Valley (Pronounced NO-EEE) is home to both liberals and conservatives, it has attracted the working class, dotcom millionaires, Hollywood film crews ('Sister Act,' 'Nash Bridges'), It's chock full of upsc …
The words that came to me when I first saw the Noe Flat were dilapidation and neglect. In the living room, a picture of a map rested on the floor propped up by two chairs on either side and two bare picture hooks on the wall above it. Above the sink was a broken plastic paper towel holder, and French press coffee maker was missing parts, the curtains in the second bed-room (just enough room for one pull-out coach opened) were stained, outside was a small baloney, after opening a sliding door and broken screen door, I found two plastic chairs and two dead plants. In the second bedroom, there was a sky light without any covering so each day I awoke to the rising sun at 6:00 am. There was no dresser in either bedroom to put away clothes, the pillows were cheap and lumpy, and the sheets and blankets worn and some stained. On days that reached 75 degrees or higher, the flat became hot and stuffy. The owner did offer to reimburse me for a fan which helped considerably. The downstairs apartment was being worked on while we were there so there was a lot of construction noise during the day. The internet worked intermittently, which precluded streaming a film.
The best aspect of this rental is its location in a wonderful neighborhood with excellent restaurants, a farmer’s market on Saturdays, and food shops. If you have a car, there is a parking place right in front of the flat. Restaurants we enjoyed included La Boulange (pastries, coffee), Bernie’s Coffee Shop, Eric’s (Chinese), Hamano Sushi, and less than a mile away Bi-Rite ice-cream on 18th. If you are a runner or a walker, if you turn right on Sanchez, up the hill, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view.
In nice location, great neighborhood. Owner responds quickly to questions. NIce space with large kitchen and comfortable beds. Great place for families especially when you need 3 beds. Parking was difficult and would be nice to be able to pull in garage but could tell they were remodeling so that should not be an issue soon. For people that know nothing about where they are , you need to do research on how to get to various places from this location such as Fisherman's Wharf. Lovely people in neighborhood were so helpful in pointing us in the right directions.
My mom, daughter and I stayed for 2 nights and couldn't have been happier with the flat. There's nothing you need that isn't there---there were lots of towels, pillows, sheets, blankets, cooking utensils, dishes, silverware and on and on....The flat is even prettier than in the pictures and exactly as described in the listing--bright, comfortable, clean....The location is perfect, the neighborhood is safe and everything you could want to see/do/buy is within walking distance. The owners are incredibly accommodating and helpful--I called Penelope when I had a question and she took care of it within minutes. We couldn't have been happier and will definitely be staying there again the next time we're in S.F.
We liked this flat very much and would gladly rent it again. The neighborhood is really nice. Whole Foods grocery store is 3 blocks away. I greatly enjoyed breakfasts at La Boulange 2 blocks away. We also had good meals in the neighborhood at Fattoush, and at Casa Mexican.
Transportation downtown was easy with the MUNI J train just 3 blocks away. There were also bus lines close by for anywhere else in the city. We didn't move our car the entire four days we were there. We were glad for the dedicated street parking in front of the flat's garage.
The flat was clean and comfortable. You definitely need to be ok climbing stairs. Not only are there stairs inside (with a very nice entranceway) to get up to the flat, but like all of the houses in the area there are stairs outside to get up to the door. You need to be very careful on the outside stairs because there is a security gate (which is appreciated) with two big metal mail boxes that would do serious bodily harm if you fell into them.
The accommodations were perfect for us, but the second bedroom is only barely big enough for a futon bed and a flat screen television. That was fine though because the rest of the flat was pretty big.
The flat was extremely well stocked with sheets, towels and blankets, which was much appreciated. The kitchen was also well-equipped. The refrigerator seemed to be misadjusted, being too warm while the freezer was growing frosty ice crystals like crazy. I don't know if that is an ongoing issue or if some previous occupant had messed with the settings. It didn't cause us any problem though.
The flat's information on the homeaway.com site does not list prices for February. I would suggest updating the page in that regard. After our initial booking we added an extra day and extra person. There was a big jump in price when we added a weekend day, but we were glad to have no trouble with the change. Getting into and out of the flat was easy. The owner was very responsive when the internet didn't initially work. After we rebooted the modem and router, the wireless internet worked well during our entire stay.
My one and only complaint was that it took several days to get our security deposit back. We checked out on Wednesday, I emailed about it on Friday, and then I called about it on Sunday. The owner was apologetic and returned the money after my call.
This airy, bright flat is close to dining, shopping, metro. Great kitchen with everything you need. Very comfy bedroom with futon and fold-out couch for additional sleeping. Could use more comfortable chairs! We never had a problem finding nearby parking, a serious plus. Could sleep 6 but would be tight. 4 adults were fine. Lovely place and one of the few that allows a 2-night minimum. Put it on your short list!
The flat is a little distant from the "action" but is very close to public transit and in a very nice neighboorhood. It was nice to return to a home in an area that felt a bit safer. The home is very close to quaint shops and pubs.
The owners were available by phone for any questions we had during our stay.
The home was fairly clean, though there was some dust, crumbs, pennies etc when we pulled out the couches into beds.
The kitchen was fully stocked.
I would definately return to this location or recommend it to a friend.
Our family of four stayed here for 10 days. With two teenage boys we had plenty of room and privacy and all of the extra amenities we would need. Breakfast was just a short two block walk. Yoga was four blocks and any groceries for late night snacks could always be found at Whole Foods. We loved starting our day wondering around town ( neat shopping, Farmers market, bakeries and the restaurant Toast) and then heading off on our days adventures only to come home to the same comfortable bed and quiet neighborhood every night. It made the trip perfect.
This condo is as nice as advertised. Extremely comfortable, spacious, and located in the heart of Noe Valley. A very short walk from numerous great restaurants and shops, a Whole Foods Market, a Farmer's Market (on Saturdays), and the MUNI's J-line. The owners agreed to let our party check in a few hours early, which was extremely convenient for us, and shows how accommodating they are. We were also able to park our vehicle right out front without a problem. Extremely quiet neighborhood at night. We would definitely rent this property again and we recommend it without hesitation. A great experience!
This condo was perfect for my stay with my girlfriends, it was walking distance to all of the great places in Noe Valley and quick to get a cab to the Pier for our wine country adventure! The condo was clean and accomidating for our needs. I and my friends would gladly stay in this condo again and again!
The apartment was clean, comfortable and in a wonderful location near to all amenities in 26th Street, which is great for eating and shopping. The building itself was charming and the apartment was beautifully decorated. We also managed to find street parking right opposite (though this might not always be the case) and public transport was very convenient.
I sent several emails to the owners querying aspects of the rental and their replies were always prompt and courteous.
I would definitely rent this property again if I ever stay in the area in future.
We stayed at this Noe Valley condo 6/15/12-6/19/12 and absolutely enjoyed it. Great neighborhood-feel, parking spot (!), and short walk to many shops/restaurants/grocery store. We loved the Mediterranean food at Joe's Diner and the convenience of having a Whole Foods Market so close. The three sleeping areas made this condo more cost-effective and private than a hotel. Neighbors were friendly, great morning runs at nearby park (on Dolores), and easy access to the city attractions. Our group consisted of a 48 year old mom, 14 year old son, and 72 year old grandmother; we highly recommend it.
