Gorgeous Spacious Modern Victorian - Garage, Decks, & Garden
Gorgeous spacious (12 foot ceilings) re-modeled Victorian on a flat block walking distance from Filmore shops and Alta Plaza park. Two floors, Three bedrooms (sleeps 4 — 6), 2.5 bathrooms, formal dining room, two parlor living room, piano, parking …
This was a superb property -- a beautiful Victorian with high ceilings, gorgeous details, decorated with exquisite taste. It's a great location, just a short walk up the hill to Billionaire's Row and amazing views of the city and the Bay. Fillmore St. a few blocks away, has great restaurants (eat at Fresca!). The house has everything you need. We were a group of two couples and a teenager and we loved sitting around the lovely living room with the fireplace going (run by remote control!) and relaxing. It's true the photos don't capture the spaciousness and graciousness of the house. The host is laid-back and accommodating and was always available by phone (when we needed help with the Direct TV, for example). Highly recommended.
This house is huge! The photos don't do it it justice.
It's in a good, safe neighbourhood of San Fran with excellent coffee (even by Melbourne standards) just at the corner and great, cheap Mexican (even by Californian standards) just down the road. The 'hood also has some friendly little bars and is a walk (or cheap cab) away from other fun areas of San Fran.
Everything was super easy and our host made sure we were comfortable and had everything we need before leaving us to our own devices. She even accomodated a late check-out (6pm) for some of our party who had late flights (which was much appreicated).
If you have a large group, this is an excellent option for San Fran
We stayed here in July 2012. It was an amazing value for the price - considerably less than the cost of two hotel rooms in a nice hotel. The house is a fully refurbished Victorian with amazing attention to detail and luxurious modern bathrooms and kitchen. A previous reviewer said that the pics on the site don't do the house justice, and I agree! There was loads of room for our group of four.
The location was amazing! We had no car and relied on taking the bus - the bus stop was conveniently located on the next block. There is a nice grocery store a couple of blocks away where we picked up provisions and Fillmore Street, which is filled with lovely shops and fantastic restaurants, is just up the street. There is also a park a couple of blocks away on a hill which had the a breathtaking view of the city! It was a great chance to experience San Francisco as a local, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. The owner is very friendly and quite knowledgeable about SF. We look forward to returning here on future visits to SF!
I held an 80th birthday week here for my mom and relatives from around the country, and the entire experience was fantastic. The house is spectacular, a classic SF Victorian that has been thoroughly
renovated and it is as comfortable and modern (with quirky art and music memorabilia), as it is classic San Francisco. The photos here on VRBO truly don't do it justice. My group consisted of 9 people ages 9-80, and the central location proved to be ideal for all age groups and interests, with groceries and other necessities within walking distance, a lovely neighborhood with restaurants, bars and shopping right around the corner, and convenient access to public transit going all directions, making exploration of San Francisco a breeze for those who wanted to. We did a lot of cooking, and the kitchen is fully appointed and a great place to hang out and socialize. All in all the week I planned for my visitors went off without a hitch, and having this fantastic house as the base of operations was a big part of it. The owner Brooke is super easy going and helpful, and if you are lucky you may get to meet Mabel. As they were leaving, my family was discussing a repeat visit sometime in the future! Cheers, two thumbs, bravo!
Our family gathered from out of town to celebrate our daughters birthday. This home is absolutely beautiful, large, comfortable, and has everything you would need. The location is perfect for walking to dinner, shopping, groceries, coffee....everything actually! Brooke was a pleasure to work with...we will definitely be back.
We just rented this home for our Thanksgiving holiday week, and it was fabulous. We baked, cooked a turkey, and hosted our family for dinner, and it all worked out great. The house is beautiful (the pictures don't do it justice), well decorated, well equipped (everything we needed in the kitchen), and well located near lots of commerce. We hardly used our car the whole time. Nearby Fillmore Street has great cafes, restaurants, and retail shopping. Molly Malone's grocery is a high end gourmet grocery store just down the street where we got everything we needed for Thanksgiving. Every morning we walked to Alta Plaza Park (2 blocks away), and our dog had the time of his life there. Regarding the sleeping arrangements: the master suite is uber comfortable. We are a family of 5, but because our teenagers didn't want to sleep together we were short on beds. Our fault. The place has 3 bedrooms, and the third is set up as a TV room with a fold out couch. So I can see how it could sleep 6, but not more than that without an air mattress. The back yard is city-sized, but lovely. The owner is very helpful and accommodating. We can't wait for another trip to San Francisco just so we can rent this home!
I visited this house with my family, six in total, and found a terrific place to spend five days in the city. The house offers a delicious place just by itself, all the furniture and equipment (from a bathroom to the kitchen) are in excellent conditions and well equipped. We enjoyed the neighborhood a lot, good distance to everywhere (Fillmore street to begin with, and then you just move up or down, east or west to continue exploring the city with a good distance to pretty much everywhere). Pictures from online site are reliable, but spaces may be even bigger than what it looks like in the pictures. The owner is a great person and always ready to help, either by answering how to do or work any aspect related to the house to recommend where to go (follow the guide in the house and you'll start OK!). If you like music, this may be a good place for you.
This wonderful, spacious home is a key part of the special family memory we created in San Francisco. We rented the house and additional unit for 3 couples and 2 (unattached) adults, and it was perfect. Centrally located, with easy mass transit. We were sad to leave.
One thing to know- there are a lot of stairs to navigate, challenging for seniors or someone with a disability.
We purchased CitiPasses for our group, parked the car, and rode the buses, street cars, and trolley the entire time.
Thank you, Brooke, for your hospitality!
House is one of the best VRBO's we have rented. Amazing location and walking distance to great parks, supermarkets, restaurants, shops and public transportation. We parked our car at the beginning of the week and didn't use it at all during our stay. Brooke is super helpful with any questions or requests we had. House is luxurious and very well decorated/designed. Four Seasons quality rental.
