European comfort, Cable car in front, walk to Union Square
Best location for your visit to San Francisco. Enjoy the convenience of an easy walk to Financial District, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, Union Square, the theater District, or just simply take the Cable Car. This is the ideal pla …
We rented this apartment because I was attending a conference at the St. Francis hotel nearby. We rented a car to travel to Yosemite following the conference. Parking isn't easy in the neighborhood, but Mike was really gracious and moved his car, which was parked in front of the building, so that we could load up our car. I don't know what we would have done without his help.
The apartment was very well equipped, with everything you could need in terms of kitchen and laundry items, all of which were eco-friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the transit passes were a really blessing.
Perfectly quiet location on the Cable car lines with complimentary cable/transport card.
Apartment, very well equipped and comfortable in every way.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay for two weeks.
My husband and I have such fond memories from our stay in this comfortable, convenient, quiet, safe and well-stocked apartment. The listing photos provide an accurate representation. The owner Mike couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The Clipper Cards were a wonderful perk. My husband thought that we would ride a cable car one time during our 9-day visit; we ended up riding a cable car multiple times every day. I definitely recommend visiting the Cable Car Museum which is a short walk from the apartment.
In addition to the Clipper Cards provided by the owner, we used 5-day Go San Francisco Cards (all-inclusive passes that provide free admission to 30 San Francisco attractions) which we had purchased online at home before our trip. One of our favorite activities in San Francisco was riding bikes over Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. It was so easy to take the cable car from the apartment to Bay City Bikes where we could use the Go San Francisco Cards for comfortable rental bikes. Another day I put one of the rental bikes on the front rack of a city bus to save time arriving at Golden Gate Park. You really don't need a car while you are staying in this apartment and exploring the city (we did rent a car from nearby City Rent A Car on the days when we traveled outside of the city).
My husband who was scheduled for foot surgery after the trip was concerned about lugging his suitcase up to the 4th floor. Not having an elevator turned out to not be a problem - the stairs were wide with a gentle slope. Living in this apartment with a real kitchen plus a washer and dryer was way better than staying in a hotel room. This was our first experience renting from vrbo and won't be our last, thanks to Mike!
This apartment is clean, spacious and very well located. The cable car is right outside the door and it will take you anywhere you want to go. I would recommend this apartment to anyone. The transit passes make getting around even easier.
The property is exactly as described in the listing. Clean, spacious and fully equipped in a quiet building on the top floor. The washing machine and dryer are a great addition for the weary extended stay traveler. As mentioned the cable car does indeed stop outside the door virtually and the included Clipper cards makes all public transport very easy. The location is near Chinatown and is ideally situated between Fisherman's Wharf in one direction and Union Square in the other. I found the cable cars often over crowded but was able to walk to both sites if needed despite the hills. WiFi is more than adequate for daily needs and the included Netflix was a welcome addition although occasionally it appeared the WiFi could not provide the necessary speed for continual watching. A quick reset of player usually fixed the problem. The owner quickly responded to a couple of queries I had and was also kind enough to allow me to stay an extra few hours due to to a late flight departure. There is a fine cafe nearby but the grocery store is a reasonable distance - direction are provided. It was a wonderful week in an ideal location
This is a great location. A couple of blocks from Chinatown. Cable cars are at each corner to get to the Warf and downtown. Bus service is also at the corner. No need for a car for us. Mike was there to greet us and was a very gracious host. Apartment was very clean. The sofa bed was very comfortable and very big (King size I think) for our teenager. We would definitely stay here again.
We had such a great time in the city! The apartment was clean and very comfortable! Loved being right on the cable car line. The transportation passes made the trip!! Got to see the Americas Cup bayside...
My mom stayed here for more than a week at loved it. Mike is a very easy and pleasant owner to work with which is another great thing about this rental. Would certainly recommend to other travelers!
The inclusion of SF Muni (public transportation) passes is a nice touch as well. And the washer/dryer is a great amenity for those who stay longer than just a few nights.
I rented the space for a week and had a great experience. The interiors are practically new with utensils included (even laundry detergents and a french press!) The Owner Mike was super nice and even threw in couple of monthly muni passes during our stay. I highly recommend Mike and his space.
This property was perfect for our needs. It was perfectly located. It was clean and nicely furnished. We would consider this property again for future travel to San Francisco.
Mike is very attentive and easy to work with. The flat was very clean. The neighborhood and the building were very quiet. Transportation is just outside the apartment door. Safeway, Walgreens and Trader’s Joe are down the street towards the waterfront. We would recommend this apartment.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of this apartment: it is spacious indeed. The location is great. Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, and Union Square are in easy reach, as long as you don't mind either walking up or down hills or jostling for space on the cable car. At the same time, this block is quiet and peaceful.
This unit was absolutely CLEAN and Spacious and had all that was needed for relaxation and convienence. This is a perfect location for the vacationing couple or if your stay requires quick access to conventions in the area. Mike was very gracious and accomodating. The cable car musem is literally 500 feet up the street, check it out, Interesting to see the inner workings of the cable drive system, motors and pulley wheel that drive the thousands of feet of cable to and from the 4 different locations about san Francisco. With that being said, it makes for a central point to hop on them and venture off in any direction quickly. The monthly passes are great. we were able to use the cable cars, muni busses and electric trolleys to skirt about the city. I recommend grabbing a transit map from the vistor center near powell BART station (3 bucks) and shows the network. This was our first trip to San Francisco without renting a car. Previous trips we found that parking convience and fees were absured. The time it takes just to find a parking space let alone pay for it will let you appreciate that you left the car behind and stayed in this place. We were able to take BART from SFO airport to Powell Station for 8.25 a person (32-36 minutes) (luggage was easy to bring on trains). At Bart station, just come up on street level and hail a cab (we found it easier to position ourselves nearby a local hotel to catch one and the fare was only 8 dollars to get 2 people two suitcases and 2 carry on bags from there to the unit. (maybe 10 minute drive in heavy traffic) DONT NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE LUGGAGE ON THE CABLE CARS. they are just tooo cramped for space, but great for using about the city as tourist. This unit is VERY VERY CLEAN, kitchen and bathroom spotless! bed was very comfortable for 2 tall adults. There is a beautiful view of the Transamerica building from the dining room window and China town is just minutes away for great food/shopping. We recommend the Huey Loy Guey restaurant, weve eaten there many times over the last 10 years, its an underground place which is typical full of locals which also tells you its the place to eat! Try the Soup and get Kung Pao Shrimp and an iced TSINGTAO beer. Perfect. (located on the SW corner of Jackson and Grant i believe and its a staircase down underground street level. you wont be disappointed. I cant say enough about this place. great relaxation, great fun and EAT24. if you want to stay in and have just about anything delivered.
This apartment met our needs beautifully. Very convenient that Cable Car, which is fun to ride, is right outside the door. With the Clipper Card we got all over San Francisco easily and free, including cable car, bus, and subway. Lots of other pluses: Very quiet, comfortable beds, snuggly duvets, liked European touches - French Press, Electric water pot, Solid wood furniture, all appliances new, granite countertops, recently remodeled, excellent internet service, and bone china dishes with flowers! 3 flights of stairs were not a problem, and we're in our 60's. Mike was kind and helpful. Highly recommend..
Excellent location. A lot of transportation means nearby. Cable car stops in same corner street. bus stops two blocks away. Apartment has been updated and it is very clean. The area is quiet and the sleeper sofa was very comfortable. The only draw back was the 4 flights of stairs but I would higly recommend this apartment.
My wife n myself( we are from Singapore) enjoyed staying at this apartment for 6 nights. We felt safe staying at this quiet location. The apartment was clean n comfortable. Mike was very helpful, he helped us with our luggage on the days we checked in and checked out.The location is excellent, so near to Chinatown where we had delicious Chinese cuisine, and also very assessable to public transport. Very thankful to him for providing us with 2 transit cards which had made our traveling on public transport worry free of searching the right fare. We even walked all the way back to the apartment from Japan town enjoying the weather n the surroundings. The cable car museum is just across the street n worth the while to visit as to understand the history n it's operation. I would definitely recommend this property to my relatives n friends Thanks Mike n Amy.
