My stay in this little place was just perfect - it was exactly what my fiance and I needed. It allowed us a more secure place to stay (rather than a hotel room) and we used this place as our base. We went to various places in the US and this was a nice place to come back to just crash, dump our goodies and go out and get more!!! For a single, or a couple, this unit is the perfect size and comes with more than ample closet space, TV, wifi, bathroom and kitchen. The host is just gorgeous and so helpful. We would definitely use this place again as a base to stay next time we are visiting the US. There is even a booklet to explain how everything works, a sight seeing book to use and little notes over the house for little hints and tips. Pure perfection! Thanks again :)
I was very lucky to have rented this little cozy apartment. I don’t come to San Francisco often but when I do, I usually stay with family or friends. This trip, though, I decided to stay in your area and found that this is the best location to be in. Everything is within walking distance and you have the 24-munibus, which connects to everything. The apartment is a modest apartment, which has everything that one possibly needs during a vacation. I did enjoy working on my computer, while being able to enjoy people watching as I worked. The owner Lois was very detailed at leaving instructions for the apartment and she followed up via email to see that I had everything I needed. The upstairs neighbor, Koryn, was very nice and helpful by suggesting that I call DeSoto cab service for my departure to the airport. She was right; they were on time and even called me afterwards to make sure that I had made it to the airport fine. I highly recommend renting the apartment.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity of renting your apartment. I don’t come to San Francisco often but when I do, I usually stay with family or friends. We arrived early on Saturday and immediately were allowed to check in. We dropped off our luggage and set out to explore San Francisco. Bus route very close. F line very convenient. Once back in the apt, it was absolutely wonderfully decorated, with instructions and labels for everything, and comfort abounds. The Murphy bed was VERY comfortable. The home is located on a busy thoroughfare and so traffic is noticeable, but pull the curtains and that definitely helps. And there is a family with small children living directly above the unit, but when you're out most of the day and get home late in the evening, that's not an issue as previously noted. Because of the location, access to public transportation, great parks, historic districts, and wonderfully attentive host we had a fantastic first visit to beautiful San Francisco. Thank you.
This studio apartment was terrific for my partner and I. Although it is listed as Studio it has a completely separate eat in kitchen which made cooking meals there easy, as did the three nearby grocery stores: large general Safeway, Whole Foods, and a relatively new to the area Bi-Rite. We had no car and public transportation was easy and readily available. The owner and the upstairs neighbor were both completely available if we needed anything- which we didn't! The owner created a very helpful binder with info about the apartment as well as the area. The upstairs neighbor greeted us with her two well-behaved children! The Murphy Bed was easy to set up and had a very comfortable mattress and pillows. There is some street noise from cars- but nothing atypical for the city. Neighborhood was safe and comfortable. We would highly recommend this apartment for two people! Thanks for a great place to stay!
Excellent location, apartment and owner
Could not have been More helpful or communicative
Apartment was lovely, plenty of room for 1 or 2 people, private, and easy walk about 9 minutes from the Castro,
Wifi, fully functioning kitchen, tv and cable
though a couple of more pillows and a DVD player wouldn't have gone amiss to be able to curl up on the bed for movie night
This rental property was everything we could ask for and more! It was very clean and well kept. The Murphy bed was extremely convenient and very comfortable! We stayed for 3 nights and it was better than being in a nice hotel. The owners of the property were extremely generous. It is in a great location right in the heart of the city! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in SF and we would certainly stay here again in the future!
Make sure to stop in down the street at KK Cafe for excellent coffee and croissant breakfast sandwiches!
This was our first experience using VRBO for any sort of weekend getaway or vacation and it did not disappoint. They've made great use of the space and created a charming, comfortable and accommodating living experience for those who visit. The living room is spacious when the Murphy bed is put away. Cable and WiFi is convenient and the shower pressure was fantastic. An odd thing to review, I know, but as a Seinfeld fan I have a deep appreciation for good shower pressure!
The location is also a plus - walking distance to so many different shops, restaurants, bars and other neighborhoods with easy access to public transit. After busy days exploring the area, we looked forward to relaxing at our "home away from home". And at a very affordable price. Highly recommend!
My Wife and I enjoyed our stay at this studio apt. very much. It was very charming, full of character, functional and had everything we needed. The area restaurants are varied and the food was delicious. SF Bus transportation was convenient and timely. There is nothing like living in a neighborhood to give one a real look at the city. Thanks for the great stay! TT/ST Minnesota
Even though a discount was granted by the owner before our arrival and despite a good accessability of important SFO attractions we find this apartment not suited for lease under VBRO. Traffic noise is rather strong and is intensified by traffic to and from a nearby hospital. Old fashioned single-glazed windows do not provide protection. Bathroom is run down, tiles are broken, equipment partly unclean. Most furniture is overused, partly stained. For 4 nights only 1 towel per person was provided. On our 4 weeks US tour we had rented VBRO apartments in Seattle, San Francisco and Denver, we must say that the SFO experience overshadows our positive experience in the other cities. Even after price reduction it was the most expensive and by far the least attractive place . For fairness we emphasize that before our arrival the owner answered all our questions accurately and instructions left in the apartment were detailed and helpful. Nevertheless we summarize that we would not recommend this place to other SFO visitors.
Enjoyed our stay! Clean and comfortable, and it's very cute. Near the Castro district, Haight and Golden Gate park. Within walking distance to (half hour) to downtown area and bus system is very convenient. Owner was very accomodating. Would reccomend it if you want to be outside the downtown area but near some really cool and interesting neighbourhoods.
The listing was centrally located as stated, with laundry facilities and good restaurants nearby, although the walks to the aforementioned were steeper than normal, the worst being the last 20 yards to the front entry of the listing. The location is not at all as quiet as described. The listing is at a very busy corner of the major artery Divisidero, and Castro streets. Vans, motorcycles cars and the 24 bus line ran past the single paned windows throughout the night and all day. There is also a very active 5 year old boy living over the rental who runs around a lot. It was nice to have a separate kitchen, but it would have been nicer to have more than 4 each of the various plates, bowls and eating utensils. I honestly could not recommend this property to a friend despite its general cleanliness.
I stayed here with my sister for a few days and we were very pleased with the apartment. This property was located in a quiet and safe neighborhood and provides easy access to public transportation. The location was perfect. The description and photos of the property were accurate and the property was extremely clean and well-maintained. The neighbor was friendly and cooperative to help us get into the apartment extremely late at night. I 100% recommend staying in this apartment.
We loved our stay in SF and in this lovely studio. It was ideal for us (we were visiting our daughter, son-in-law and our grandchildren). A wonderful location and very comfortable for the two of us. We appreciated there being no stairs and it was quiet. Great lighting and tastefully decorated. It was very clean and the owners were a dream to work with - very thorough and informative. We hope to stay in the future. We would certainly recommend this to other couples or single visitors. On our first night, we walked to Nopalito, a delicious new Mexican restaurant only a few blocks away. During our stay we also enjoyed the gourmet pizza at Ragazza and unique bi-rite ice cream as well. All within walking distance.
I flew in from Australia and spent a week in this delightful studio in April this year and recommend it highly for anyone who wishes to be in a homey atmosphere and great location. The furnishings are high-end, more than one would expect for a studio and the bed is very comfortable. The unit has full cable, which is an added bonus to most other places I've stayed. The unit has all the conveniences of home and the location couldn't be better, within walking distance to many different restaurants and one-of-a-kind shops and boutiques in Hayes Valley, Haight St. and Divisadero St. The owner was very pleasant and easy to deal with. I shall definitely return.
My husband and I stayed here in early February and couldn't be more pleased! We stayed in the apartment for three nights. The apartment felt very large for a studio. It was well-maintained and beautifully furnished. This is a great place for a couple visiting the city, or someone traveling alone. The location was also great for us, since it was within walking distance of many great neighborhoods, but also very close to public transportation. My husband and I both preferred staying in an apartment then checking into a hotel, since it offered a more personal touch. There are some great restaurants and bars within walking distance. We enjoyed our interactions with the owners, who were very friendly and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again, if we ever return to San Francisco. We would both recommend this rental to any of our friends and family!
My wife and I had a great stay in this quaint apartment. It's in an excellent neighborhood (The Paige is down the street and it's a short walk to Golden Gate park). A comfortable bed, and a kitchen for us to make breakfast and a dinner or two saved us money and allowed us to buy produce to eat at home.

Sun-Filled Garden Studio in Heart of the City

This peaceful and quiet hidden gem of a studio is perfectly situated in the heart of the city. We're located in the bustling Castro district only a five minute walk to Market and Castro -- a convenient and fast transportation hub with Muni underground, trains and buses. Downtown is only 10-15 minutes away. It's possible to travel directly from SFO by Bart with only one transfer at Civic Center to the Castro Street Muni Station. You won't need a car to get around -- most of our guests enjoy the city without one -- but if you do drive, parking is easy and free on our block.
The Castro is a friendly neighborhood with well cared for classic Victorian and Edwardian buildings, parks, cafes, restaurants, small groceries, shops and the venerable Castro theater. Although it is a flat walk to transportation and Castro street shopping, we have lots of hills nearby with hidden staircases and wonderful views. Start your day with a walk to Tartine Bakery on Valencia for croissants & coffee or up to Twin Peaks for the views. We are perfectly situated next to some of the city's hottest restaurants -- walking distance from the Mission, the Valencia Corridor, Duboce Triangle, Hayes Valley, Lower Haight & Noe Valley
This studio apartment was newly built in 2012 at the garden level of a renovated 1907 Edwardian. Accessed through a side door and corridor to the back, it's great for folks who prefer not to climb a lot of steps. It's a spacious 440 square feet with 9' ceilings, hardwood floors, recess lighting and Anderson sliding doors to a patio and shared garden.
We've set up the apartment for the way we'd like to live if we, family or friends were to stay there for weeks at a time. The sitting area has a comfortable couch and chair, a 32' LCD TV w/cable and DVD, the fabulously comfortable king size bed has lots of great pillows and high thread count cotton sheets. There are bathrobes in the closet and the tiled bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer, bath products and lots of room for your things. Upon request, there is a single mattress for a third person and for our smallest visitors a travel crib or child's cot.
The kitchenette with refrigerator, convection microwave, induction burner, toaster oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, rice cooker and crock-pot, etc. has everything you'll need to eat in when you're not in the mood to take advantage of numerous restaurants nearby. There is a supermarket three blocks away and farmers' markets all over town.
Your hosts, Jan and Wandralee, are happy to direct you to neighborhood cafes & restaurants, interesting places to walk or bike, and all of the wonderful amenities San Francisco has to offer.
We also have an extra bicycle or two that may be available if you inquire before booking.
