We had a wonderful stay. Location can not be beat and the apartment is roomy and comfortable. The hosts saw to our every need. Thank you for a great experience!!
This apartment is wonderful! We loved the location. It is close to restaurants, shopping and all of the things a visitor should see in San Francisco. We celebrated Thanksgiving dinner in this lovely apartment and were grateful for the formal dining room and the very well stocked kitchen. The views were spectacular and the apartment amenities are top notch. Good TVs, good computer, good plumbing fixtures and appliances. We played some of the games and movies, but mostly it was just a great home base in San Francisco. Sharry was so helpful and responded immediately to answer questions and help out with special requests (like when I asked if I could borrow a grater). Parking in the area is very limited, so a car is not a good idea. One small negative is that the heat is from baseboard units in each room and there is a cold draft from up the staircase, but this is the price you pay for an historic and beautiful old building. We did as Sharry suggested and kept the doors closed so the heat didn't escape. We had a fabulous stay. Would recommend this one highly.
It was a privilege to stay here, and imagine yourself back in a time when attention to detail was the norm. All of its originality has been lovingly preserved, and complemented by the period furniture. It certainly had the "wow" factor for us.
This place could not have been in a better location for my family. It was close to everything and any place you didn't want to walk to you could easily get on a bus or cable car. We loved the space in the apartment. there was plenty of room for my husband and I and our two teenage daughter to spread out. The Kitchen had everything we needed. the beds were comfortable and the views were wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay in San Francisco.
If I could give this property and its owners 10 stars, I would. My mom and I were in San Fran for my son's wedding reception which was held on Treasure Island. This lovely flat was in a good location for all kinds of transport and travel, including to out of the way places like Treasure Island. It's in the heart of a wonderful neighborhood and is within walking distance to many major attractions. We arrived to a beautiful living space, with every amenity necessary and some that were there of pure thoughtfulness on the part of the owners (a bottle of wine, loaf of sourdough, fresh fruit, coffee). The kitchen is fully furnished, the flat wonderfully maintained and immaculate. We woke each morning to sit and watch the sunrise and view the water, Alcatraz and the fascinating characters in the neighborhood. I can't imagine a better place to settle in, feel at home, and experience San Francisco. The photos are great but the flat is even better than the photos! We hope to stay here many times in the future.
We had a wonderful 4 day stay in San Francisco. David, a most gracious host, met us at the door with the keys and helped to carry the bags up the stairs. The apartment is more spacious than it appears in the photos. The kitchen has everything that you can imagine. The bed in the den was very comfortable if you are more than two. We loved the view! My mother (86) loved sitting in the sunny window and watching the boats, and the street below. We hope to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to San Francisco. The calendar is pretty booked so this is a place to plan ahead for. Thank you
This home, is very warm and inviting, a great central location, would rent again when i return.
We booked this classic Flat for 4 Nights, and it was a pleasure to stay there. When you´re looking for a typical original San Francisco Flat/House, than you have to go to this flat - it was great. The Location is also great because you can easily walk down to the harbor or to many small Restaurants around the corner near by. The Flat looks exactly like shown on the Pictures. The complete Flat was very clean and we felt very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and in good condition. Cable Car or Bus Connection is given. Thanks to Sharry and David for the great time.
When I first found this listing I thought it sounded too good to be true--but it is true and more wonderful than described. I'm a 59ish Mom and spent a week with my 19ish son in this beautiful flat and felt absolutely at home. When he slept in after a night with friends, I sipped my tea while gazing out at the amazing view of Alcatraz and Coit Tower. When he slept in even longer, I did my yoga workout in the huge living room and then perused many amazing books on San Francisco and an eclectic inspiring library. When it was time for French toast, the kitchen was dream-friendly--well-stocked (the owners also steer a neighbourhood restaurant), intuitive, everything you could think of (including a great play list on the iPod) and if it was time for takeout Thai or sushi, it was a jaunt down the hill. !550 square feet provides a lot of breathing room and sanctuary so my son and I had time to connect. But we were also right in North Beach, so could head off to City Lights Bookstore, or Coppola's Zoetrope headquarters, or a light breakfast at Boulange. We walked to Union Square (just over the hill) and trekked back from Chinatown; when I visited a friend for dinner in the Upper Haight it was a quick bus trip back (the bus is literally outside the door). We could hear the cable car bells, and church bells, and the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill, and the foghorn, and watch the dance of sunlight and fog. I once lived in San Francisco for a year (over 30 years ago) and always loved this part of the city; it was wonderful to be able to live as a native for a week and share it with my son. The owners of the flat are absolutely gracious--it's lovely to find a quart of milk in the fridge, and little containers of sassy herbal teas, strong coffee, and fruit that ripens as your days pass. My last act in San Francisco was to eat a perfect peach. Thank you Sharry, David, Liz and Wade!
The location was great. Close to public transportation, walking distance to restaurants, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, Little Italy. The house was very cozy and well kept with its nice original Victorian architecture. The photos were accurate. Sharry was great, giving us lots of information on the local amenities and little things like where to park, where to buy 3 days passes and get local groceries. Its a great bargain if you are with a family! The one downside is that the location is on a hilly part of San Francisco.
I would highly recommend renting this flat to anyone looking to have a genuine San Francisco experience. The location was great - right next to Little Italy and Chinatown, but in a quiet upscale neighborhood and right on a public transit line. The flat was lovely with a view of Coit tower and Alcatraz from the living room windows. The hostess was wonderful - we found a bottle of wine, a loaf of sourdough, and some basics stocked in the fridge upon arrival. It was truly a great find. The only downside is that it's difficult (and expensive) to find a parking if you drove here.
Our family of 4 from New Zealand stayed in the property for 2 weeks. This very comfortable and character filled property was in a perfect location for our needs with many San Francisco attractions within easy reach. The property was clean and well maintained and was exactly as described in the listing. The owners were very welcoming - the provisions that they left for us on arrival were very appreciated after a long flight and the local information that was provided was invaluable. We loved exploring the neighbourhood and eating out in the local restaurants and cafes that had been recommended by the owners. We had a fantastic holiday and would not hesitate to recommend the property to friends and families. To our hosts - thank you again for making our time in San Francisco so enjoyable.
We had a 4 day stay and enjoyed it immensly. The owners are very kind and considerate. There was a bottle of wine, a sordough bread, and beer in the fridge waiting for us. The apartment was fully stocked with everything we needed. The apartment is centrally located within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf and close to Union Square and Chinatown. The apartment is extremely comfortable and offers beautiful views of the Bay and Alcatraz. If you are going to San Francisco I highly recommend this apartment for your stay.
We just had the most awesome time in San Francisco and thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely flat in Russian Hill. Very spacious, clean, and decorated with great antiques!! The location could not have been better. Close to the touristy stuff but situated in what appeared to be a local's neighborhood. We were two blocks from fantastic restaurants, markets, coffee shops. We were also a short bus ride to shopping as well as to the Pier area and Ferry Terminal which had an awesome farmers mkt. Literally the bus stop was outside your door and the cable car stop was a block away. Awesome owners were always willing to help with directions and things to do!! we will go back and rent this flat again!!
Great place with character, an amazing view of Coit Tower and Alcatraz. The condo far exceeded our expectations and I have recommended this place to all my friends since my return. Close to great restaurants, shops and transit.
