This charming studio surrounded by gardens and tucked away from the street will offer you a relaxing stay in beautiful San Francisco. The studio is small but has a comfortable futon bed that sleeps 2, a big desk, dressers and shelves, and a large …
Located in San Francisco's Mission District, this small basement studio has the basics in a great location. Dolores Park and the Muni streetcar to downtown are just a block away; interesting restaurants, funky shops, and live music venues and bars lie just a few blocks away on Valencia. We particularly enjoyed Limón Rotisserie (1001 S Van Ness) for tasty Peruvian food at a good price and Amnesia (853 Valencia), a neighborhood bar with interesting live music. The place is really in a great location for exploring the Mission District and hopping a streetcar or bus to the rest of SF.
As described, the studio is small and functional: an entry room, small kitchen and a bath with shower. The entry room with french doors overlooking a small patio has a futon that pulls out into a comfortable full bed. The kitchen has a small fridge, coffee maker, and microwave, plus a few place settings, and was great for preparing a quick breakfast before heading out for a day of sight-seeing. The only drawback is that it lacks a sink, so you had to use the small one in the bathroom. Everything was clean and functioned properly. We did have a problem tripping a circuit breaker once when running the portable electric heater with another appliance, but that was quickly fixed.
The host replied promptly to our questions and provided lots of helpful tips about places in the neighborhood.
Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely consider returning here on my next SF visit, given the value and great location.
My bf and I needed somewhere well-located and efficient to stay for a long Valentine's Day weekend and this was just an amazing spot.
The owner was more than wonderful in arranging payment, keys, etc. We spoke for about 20 minutes upon my arrival and chatted about the neighborhood, restaurants, details on the apartment, any potential needs, etc.
It is a delightfully quiet, cozy, tucked-away spot that was a great home away from home. I was only there for 4 nights but would stay my usual 2 weeks when I'm in town.
You couldn't ask for a better location, just by the Mission Dolores Park. A 5-minute walk from Tartine bakery, Bi-Rite ice cream, the J Muni train. A pleasant 10-minute walk to the Castro and Market Street.
You really couldn't go wrong staying here. Even the neighbors are delightfully pleasant (it's a house set behind another house - SO private!).
It's some steps, as most things are in San Fran... After walking around all day you may just want to cry upon getting back each night but it's totally worth it.
You'll love the area. You'll love the space. You'll love the owner.
Can't wait to return!
I live in San Francisco and hosted my father here on his recent visit. This property is comfortable, clean, well maintained. It's on an idyllic block in a fabulous neighborhood. Ingrid is helpful and welcoming. You will not do better if you're looking for a 1BR VRBO in San Francisco.
This property is an excellent price if you are only looking for a place to sleep. It had everything we needed and was within walking distance of many bars and restaurants. However, it is small and lacks a kitchen, so if you are going to be spending a substantial amount of time in the rental property it may not be a comfortable fit. The bed is a futon and is very firm, which I found to be uncomfortable, but my boyfriend who likes a more firm bed enjoyed it, so keep in mind that you may want to put extra padding on the bed if you like a softer bed (we put a sleeping bag we had on the futon under the fitted sheet, which helped significantly). The bathroom is very small and only one person can be in there getting ready at a time, so getting out of there in the morning can be a bit of a task. Also, if you have a car, parking can be a bit of a hassle. Most of the parking in the immediate area is 2 hour only, so you have to frequently move your car if you are spending time at the rental property. However, if you are going to be gone throughout most of the day as we were, you can work around the parking issue because the 2 hour parking is only from 8 am to 9 pm and throughout the night you can leave your car in the same spot and just move it in the morning. Overall, Ingrid and her daughter Anna were very nice and helpful and the property provided us with what we were looking for, which was simply a place to sleep. And the price can't be beat. I'm happy with our decision to rent this property!
Our stay in this charming studio was a delight! First and foremost, the neighborhood was top notch. Quiet, no shady characters wandering around. Centrally located with dozens and dozens of excellent dining and shopping options within 5-10 minutes walk (whatever your budget). The studio was comfortable for it's size. Perfect for travelers looking for a place to crash after taking in all that SF has to offer! Dolores park is half a block away. Public transportation within a couple blocks. I don't think you could be disappointed staying here. Ingrid has a great little spot here!
I just returned from visiting my daughter in San Francisco and stayed in this studio rental. This space is a perfect set up for a single or maybe a couple staying for several days in the area. The owner was cordial and accomodating. The space was designed well for the traveler with many shelves and spaces to store travel items including your suitcase. It's location is central to most SF amenities and public transportation, in a very pleasing residential area of the city. For those that don't need or want a full kitchen and would like a simple clean space to call "command central" for their belongings, this is perfect! Due to it's location, this studio is amazingly quiet at night for sleeping..or even a mid day nap. I will return, again and again.
I loved my stay in this property. The listing was accurate and I was not surprised by anything. The place was in great shape. The bed was more comfortable than the one I have at home; the heater worked perfectly; the huge desk area was very useful for spreading out maps and gathering information to plan a stay; the terrace area was gorgeous. The location is very convenient to many different public transportation options and great places to dine and buy food. The owner was very helpful and friendly and had put out fresh fruit for me. The only two drawbacks were that cell phone reception was not very good, and there is no sink in the kitchen area. I would definitely go back for an even longer visit and recommend it to all my friends.
