Capture the sun in Cole Valley!
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Split Bath (Sleeps 6).
Edwardian flat (1500 sq ft/full floor) in the heart of Cole Valley (beautiful weather).
My furnished home is move-in ready and offers a gourmet kitchen (Sub Zero refrigerator), …
I stayed in this flat with my Grandma for the Christmas Holiday. The weather was great so we spent a lot of time on the deck overlooking a beautiful garden with a fountain and lights at night. We wondered about the request to remove our shoes. Grandma can not go without shoes, but I did. I met one of the woman who lives upstairs and saw their stairway was covered with shoes, so I guess it is a building tradition. Anyway, I was so glad I removed my shoes the night I came back from Haight Street and stepped in some ds without
My grandma enjoyed the fireplace and I was able to do my workouts in the beautiful sun
room. The kithen was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable.
Cole Valley is a very safe neighborhood with lots of kids and dogs.
We had a great time and the owner was very helpful.
We recently stayed at this very lovely, comforting and well managed home. The pictures do not capture the serenity and soothing feeling the home exudes. It was very clean, well maintained and exceeded all our expectations of a rental property. Our reason for staying at this home is a bit different than most.
Our daughters were set for a kidney transplant at UCSF hospital. One being the donor and the other the recipient. This lovely home quickly became our "home base". The warmth of the fireplace, the serenity of the living space and the fully equipped kitchen provided our family a place to prepare meals, relax , rest and re-energize ourselves from the draining long waits, the anxiety of the surgeries and the uncertainties of post-surgery complications. The plan was for a 3 day stay, but it ended up taking an extra day. Nancy kept in touch with us through email and text, in thought and in prayer. When I informed her of the delay, she was very generous and allowed us to stay the extra day for free. We are eternally grateful to Nancy for her generosity, understanding, patience and compassion to our family.
I highly recommend this home to the leisure visitor or to anyone who's looking for a place to rest and relax. Nancy is an excellent, generous and very caring host.

I chose this suite for two purposes: to visit San Francisco with two girlfriends, and to host a small meeting. It was perfect for both. Lots of room for three guests (two bedrooms plus pull-out couch in the living room), and fully equipped kitchen. Quiet neighbourhood both day and night. The sunroom was the ideal setting for the small meeting: a view of a lovely garden, and a gas fireplace which made it very cozy when it cooled off. The location can't be beat -- you can stay in a lovely neighbourhood yet be just footsteps from public transit, making travel to/from downtown or the airport super-easy! Very close to Haight St and Golden Gate Park, and easy access to other interesting areas of San Francisco. Just around the corner from the apartment, you'll find a coffee shop, restaurants, wine shop, grocer, gift shop and a lovely cheese shop. Best of all, the host, Nancy, could not have been more helpful -- from the moment of my initial inquiry to after my departure this morning, she has been accessible and generous with her advice and suggestions! Thank you, Nancy!
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely and comfortable home in Cole Valley. It was a perfect spot for our "home" base while attending a family wedding. Minutes out of the door were numerous good restaurants, a cute grocery store and wine shop plus within walking distance to Whole Foods and of course, Golden Gate Park. Nancy is very nice and so helpful with information making for a very enjoyable vacation. The apartment was even nicer than expected. We would definitely stay here again and reccomend this to friends and family. Nice job Nancy - your home was lovely!
My adult son and I stayed at Nancy's lovely/classic SF apartment over a long weekend and can't say enough good things about her place or our stay. The location is ideal (on the sunny side of The Haight) with supere asy access to public transportation, restaurants, shopping, GG PArk, etc; the Cole Valley neighborhood is among the best in the City; Nancy is very easy to work with and is a wonderful hostess and we just loved the coziness and serenity of this property. We would definitely seek to stay at 51 Carl the next time we are in San Francsico - thank you Nancy (and
James) for making this all easy and for giving us such a great oasis to relax and revive in while visiting one of our favorite cities in the world!
Dorothy and James Perkins
Just spent six nights at Nancy's place in Cole Valley - such a lovely spot! The fireplace and sunroom were real bonuses (sunroom looks up Twin Peaks - so beautiful!), and the kitchen is easy to cook in with a huge variety of cookware and so on, much better than many other places we've rented through VRBO. Nancy is so friendly and helpful, you could not ask for better support! With James below as on-site backup, you're never without help. The apartment is right on the N line, which connects you to the BART and the whole MUNI system which is a real plus! Pack warm clothes for San Francisco weather in October is quite variable - dress in layers so you can shed jackets during the day. Nancy's place is a welcome retreat after a day seeing the sights! Lots of neat restaurants are near by, and the Whole Foods is within walking distance... you can bus there too!
My husband, daughter and I recently returned from a stay in San Francisco visiting my son. We could not have picked a better place to stay than this beautiful and charming flat in Cole Valley. Just around the corner from a Muni stop, the location was ideal with wonderful restaurants and shops right outside our door and, yet, quiet at night. The apartment was furnished very nicely and was extremely well appointed with everything we could have possibly wanted. The highlight feature for me was a glorious sun room which looks out over a beautiful garden below. The sun pours into the flat from that sunny room and basks the entire great room in glowing light. It was so comfortable for all of us to enjoy our time together with plenty of seating and a wonderful music closet filled with CDs for our enjoyment. One of the most critical issues for me when booking a place is to have a responsive owner to answer any questions. Nancy was truly extraordinary as a host and provided me with extensive information about the area and tips on various aspects of our trip. She could not have been more accommodating. All in all, this flat was truly our home away from home for our family reunion with our son. I can't imagine a better place to enjoy both family time and the glorious city of San Francisco!
We had a wonderful visit to this apartment. My wife and I stayed for a week, and it was large enough to accommodate two other couples that came to visit during our stay. The apartment was very clean and in excellent condition, with bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We found the central location to be ideal for quickly getting around to any location in the city, and Cole Valley itself is a very quiet, friendly spot with lots of great restaurants and cafes. Nancy was a pleasure to deal with and proved to be a gracious and attentive host. We would absolutely stay here again.
What a wonderful feeling to open the door to Nancy's apartment after a long flight from France. You immediately see that you are in the home of a person who has decorated her place with great care and taste. A lovely living room with its sunroom and deck overlooking a charming garden welcomes you. Nancy must also be a great cook judging by the generous equipment of the kitchen and a very considerate hostess providing extra coats for the careless tourists thinking that San Francisco is a hot place in the summer. Everything has been planned for a perfect stay in maximum comfort. The closets are packed with lots of linen and towels and blankets.
If you are cold you can even put the heating on or the fans if it ever gets too hot.
When you are ready to go downtown, public transportation is available round the block—you definitely don’t need a car! Cole Valley is a quiet charming neighbourhood with shops and restaurants very close to the famous Haight Ashbury area and to the Golden Gate park.
The six of us, four adults and two children (aged 8 and 10), spent four very pleasant days at Nancy’s place and highly recommend it for a stay in San Francisco.
The minute we walked into the property it felt like home, very charming and comfortable. Excellent location for walking to restaurants (eat at Zazie, amazing) markets (whole Foods and Haight street market are just a few blocks) and transportation to the beach or union square are foot steps from the door. The neighborhood is generally quiet and has a nice vibe.
Most importantly is Nancy the home owner who is just wonderful, she is a wealth of information on the ins and outs of San Francisco. She was so helpful with all the questions we had about our stay in the city.
I have family in the area and it was nice to have a large enough space to cook and entertain, and hope to rent here again next summer.
This is a great apartment - well looked after, surprisingly spacious and brilliantly located just steps from tram line, cafes and grocery stores. The sunroom and balcony overlooking the attractive gardens below are a real bonus - lots of natural light and a great place to relax any time of day. Fine for young children and we were generally able to find parking within a few blocks. The owner was very helpful, responsive and easy to deal with. We would definitely recommend this rental.
The apartment is very good and the location is great. We stayed here for 3 days (parents plus teenage daughter). The layout of the flat is very nice - the front door opens on a long hallway with the master bedroom closest to the street, then a 2nd somewhat small bedroom, a split bathroom (toilet in one room, bath/shower in another), good size kitchen, and a very large great room (living room / sun room) with french doors opening onto the back yard. This great room also has a gas fireplace.
We did have some small issues (using the remote for the fireplace and finding the wifi password). But the owner responded quickly to tell us the password. We were not able to use the remote for the fireplace, but were able to use the on/off switch on the wall. So a pretty minor issue.
The neighborhood is great -- several cafes and restaurants in a 1-2 block area. And the N Judah street car enters the tunnel almost directly across from the front room. Even so, this was a very quiet spot. We did have a rental car and even though we had to move it frequently (because of SF's zoned parking rules), we were always able to park within a block.
We were in the appartment for 3 days. It was a very nice place to stay. The appartment has a Kitchen og livingroom. The bedrooms are good. It is clean and has all facilities for making a good dinner, lunch and breakfast.
The location is also excellent. There is a very short distance to Public communication and a short distance to downtown.
There is a lot of foodstores, pubs and restaurants in the neighbourhood.
This condo is totally out of my expectation. I didn't expect to have such a spacious place with a beautiful garden in the center of San Francisco. The place is very well maintained and kept super clean. I could smell the aroma coming from the garden on the first floor when I sat on the balcony. The location is perfect, quiet but convenient to everywhere. There are restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. The owner is super nice and answered all my questions in time. I always stay in vacation rental when I travel with kids and I would rate it 5/5 out of my personal experience. Will definitely stay there again in the future.
My wife and i took our two grandchildren for a one week stay in SF as a high school graduation gift to them.
The location of this unit is PERFECT....it's a one minute walk from the transit system. It's also a one minute walk from an intersection that has restaurants, a pharmacy, a grocery store, etc...
super quiet and safe area. We were there from 6/23=6/30/2013, and didn't even rent a car. We were able to go everywhere in town via the public transport system. We each bought a 7 day metro ticket, which took us ever single place we wanted to visit.
Owner is really friendly and accommodating. Her place was PERFECT for our visit, and we will definitely stay with her again in the future.
Owner was a pleasure to deal with.
located a one minute walk from public transportation, restaurants and store.
couldn't have been more pleased with our stay.
hope to stay in this place again..
We just spent a week at this beautiful home in the quaint little "town within a town" known as Cole Valley. The house is a beautiful, immaculate and inviting haven from which to explore the city. There is a little terrace / balcony overlooking the beautifully landscaped backyard that is the perfect morning coffee spot. The kitchen is very well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable. It is steps away from the shops and very good restaurants of Cole Valley and a short stroll to the Inner Sunset and Haight areas. The only "problem" is that we never wanted to leave the house. Nancy is a wonderful host who wants to make sure your stay Is totally enjoyable and she succeeded in every way!
The flat was beyond our expectations. With my boyfriend, we were having breakfast every morning on the terrace, enjoying the garden and the birds. It is a very nice flat, with all the Edwardian stuff, and the fireplace. Very romantic! In addition of being very cozy, the flat was also very comfortable. I remember especially the bed: a very high quality bed. We really appreciated it. Flat was also very clean. There was nothing we could need that was missing. And very convenient to have the subway so close and the park to jog very close also.
I was there with 3 other French girlfriends, visiting San Francisco. We had a wonderful experience (much better than previous time when staying at hotels). We especially loved the fact that we could live there like a San Francisco citizen, in a lovely neighborhood (with very good quality stores, nice restaurants and beautiful houses) and in a very comfortable flat. There was everything we could need to cook, and the washing machines were very convenient. We were like living in a house, completely autonomous, very quiet, with the nice view on the garden, which was really great, especially when the weather was sunny. And last but not least, Nancy, the landlord, has been very nice and helpful on the phone, when we needed, to give advices to visit San Francisco. I really recommend staying there.
